Help for a NecromancerFollow

#1 Feb 18 2004 at 9:49 PM Rating: Decent
Ok. So I have a 37 necromancer on Bors and it's taken me 9 days of play time to get him to 37. He is my highest toon and my only over 20. My problem is just that everyone talks about it taking 5-6 days play time to get to 50, and I just can't seem to do it. Right now I've spent about a day play time at 37 and I just can't stop dying. I want nothing more than to feel the satisfaction of getting to 50 but I just don't know if it's something I can do.
So, now that my rant is done, I'm just wondering if this is somewhere that many Necro's get stuck at, and if theres any tips that can help me. I've tried many of the good spots to EXP, however many have problems...

Clerks - Usually camped
Barrows - " "
Rocots in DF - Not always got DF, usually get ganked by HIBs/MIDs

..I've even tried other things, finally I settled outside Caer Caddug but that can be really tough. So pretty much I just need some advice and any hints all you 50's might have. Thanks for taking the time to read and help.

Ok first of all, who ever told you they can get 50 in 5-6 days are full of **** ;]. Normally it takes a good 2 months, thats if you play your char a lot. I suggest going to barrows, the echo room which is down some is a great camp for necros at your level. You can level there untill 43 or so. I would just take your time with leveling.

You can level a necro in 5-6 days play time to 50.
Here are some guidelines on how to play a necro:
1. Deathsight Spec is the way to go
2. Only fight undead mobs
3. Fight yellow con only
4. Attack from maximum range
5. Don’t forget to use your Absorption spell
6. Use your Powerdrain (that will always keep your mana pool full and reduces downtime) till the mob gets to you
7. When at melee range
a) let the pet hit the mob ones then use FP(Facilitate Painworking) and Powerdrain two more times
b) use your HoT(Heal over Time) spell
c) start lifetabbing the mob
8. It also helps a lot if you find someone that can buff your pet

This tactic works very well for me. The only problem is that sometimes even yellow con mobs resist almost every spell.

I made level 35 with my necro in 5 days (about 2 days actual playing time). TIPS: The people that level fast with their necros are 100% deathsight.

Make sure you're fighting undead mobs. They are spirit weak and thus take more damage per tap. I can chain-solo ojs easily, without stopping, and reds I can pull maybe 10-15 at a time before having to rest or pull a yellow for a quick shot of energy.

At your level, Clerks are good to go, but you said they're always camped. Try the Granite Giants in Dartmoor. Just stay as far away from them as you can. They aggro from reallllly far away. Hope that helps.

Solo, I've only died 3 times. I've died a few times in a group when we pull too many for us to handle, but necros were made to solo.

I agree with all that is said so far. I leveled in 9 days /play. I chained oj undead without taking resting.
I would recommend getting mcl 1 for those rare times you need power. I use FP different than previously mentioned.
I put pet on passive, pull from as far away as possible, cast 3 powertaps, click FP and cast 2 more powertaps. That drops almost all yellows in the game and drains 80% most ojs.

From lvl 35 on you can stay in Lyonese until 50. Gets boring but you WILL level.

Dont forget Caldey once you get high enough, tons of undead and decent drops. You can also stop by barbs to sell and repair , etc.

And can also do a quest for them.

Lots of KT items in Caldey also.

Good luck

Dont do death servant if you dont have a full time cleric with FOP and FOR. Its not worth they dying. You can level to 50 in 5-6 days. You need to be killing in Shrouded Isles though. At 37 you may be able to take mobs at the grave yard near the zombies. At 40ish I say wander on over to the white lights. Damn fine drops and excellent xp. Hardly ever camped.
