Ok, I am probably the biggest nub in DAoC. I have started many classes but have found the necromancer to my liking. I have heard people talking about the skills "painworking" and "deathsighting". Some people say that painworking is better for leveling and making money, but some people say the same about deathsighting. Can anyone please explain to me the pros and cons of both skills?

i never heard painworking is good for lvling.. deathsight is the fastest specc to lvl up (unless maybe when you have a 50 ench specc cleric bot, then try servant) deathsight has a powerdrain spell, with which you can great pull, then when mob gets in melee range you have a nice instalifetap, if you stick to undeath mobs, you will be most times be able to chainkill yellow/orange mobs
Painworking is a BIG NO-NO. Do not spec in that.
I have 2 necros, one on Nimue, one on Gaheris. Both are Deathsight, both can chain pull undead, and neither have to worry about coin at all.
My necro is a 'sugar Momma'. She funds my crafter and my other poor characters...
My suggestion: go with deathsight and stick to UNDEAD mobs (ghosts, zombies, haunted apple trees, etc). IF you fight 'living' mobs, it will be much harder on you.

DO NOT GO PAINWORKING..for most necros..especially newbish ones, go Deathsight. A deathsight necro is probably the fastest leveler in the game, partly becuase they can constantly pull mobs w/o losing health or power. I made my necro 10 days ago, and he is already level 32. I plan to go all deathsight, then perhaps switch to deathservant around 50. Deathservant is probably better for farming very high level mobs, but are no where near as useful as deathsight necros below a very high level

Deathsight to 50 is the quickest.
I'm respeccing my necro to death servant though, with my bot, the PL'ing is even faster.
