I hate armsman, coming.. from the opinion of a hibby, but when I was in Albion I loved them, they are wanted almost as much as cleric/Minstrel in groups!

Guinevere is a great RP server.
As far as your spec goes, it all depends on what you are wanting from your character.
PVE/RVR - 50 Slash/ 50 Shield /28 Parry/ rest in Xbow
PVE - 50 Polearm/ 50 Slash/ 28 Parry/ rest in Xbow
RVR - 50 Polearm/ 50 Thrust/ 28 parry/ rest in xbow
You get the basic idea. My armsman is specced more for pve than rvr. However if you are s/s spec then you will fair well in both rvr and pve, being of high defense. One thing unfortunately, you will have to rely on a paladin for your endurance to regenerate more quickly, otherwise it will be long drawn out fights.
