I currently play ffxi and I am looking to take a break from it and or find something new. I know that this game is older but I am still highly interested in it.
Is this game still as big as it was last year with over 200,000 people playing? I am wondering if this game is still growing or if it has already hit its peak.

Game population will always flux back and forth. With WoW coming out and EQ2, you can expect ppl to leave, try the new games.. love em and stay or hate em and come back.
This being said... the latest expansion patch, New Frontiers, is not very popular to a lot of ppl, which is making them more eager to go try other things.
I, for one though, am staying. Come on back and try it out.. see for yourself!

The game is still alive, but with the newer games coming (as mentioned above) DAoC playerbase is going to take a hit. I'm not so sure that it's population is growing all that much tho.
Some servers are better balanced than others, just depends on how populated of a server you start out on.
