Throwing weaponsFollow

I'm having trouble using throwing knives with my shadowblade. I place them in the ranged slot, drag the icon to quickbar. When I target an npc and click the icon it says "You must select a quiver slot to draw from!" When I fill my quiver slots and my ranged slot with throwing knives it still says the same thing. Could someone give me a hand I have no clue how to use my throwing weapons..
