I'm a rr3L5 briton scout and i've been playing around with kort's...i'm finding it hard to totally cap resists...what resists would be important for me and any suggestions on jewelry and armor i could use to help with this...
I'm a legendary SC guy. Go to syntheticrealms.com and download Loki, it's the best I've seen and takes out the guess work. It will tell YOU how to max out the stats depending on your preferences. I've had no problem figuring out how to max ALL my stats on my Infiltrator, Arms, Necro and Wizard so far. That's +75 on all the stats, +26 on all resists, and +11 to all skills at level 50. And by using the database of high utility drops, you can see exactly which items you need to get to max out a tough toon like a scout. Ya, it costs like $12 after you've used it 20 times but comparitively, I think Kort's sucks, just my opinion.
Follow the website that you can download for free all the high utility weapons, jewels, necklaces, etc. and can load them in quickly. It's not a complete items database, but pretty good.

Ok..thanks..i've figured loki out so far..only thing is..where can i get a database of the known items in the game...i'm not to fond of doing it all myself...thats alot of stuff...there doesn't seem to be anything in the database folder that comes with the installation..and i have teh unlimited version...
http://www.ethinarg.com/ go there. Loki itself doesn't have a database, they just link to this site. Although all the info from this site has been accurate, that I've received from it, it's not really complete. For my armsman, necro and wiz I had great choices, but my infiltrator was looking for items and it was kinda lacking for choices of jewels, etc that I know are in the game. Im not sure if you can work Loki with a other databases or not, but this is the one they recommend. Having said this, it does have most the high utility items whether it be artifacts or high utiltiy drops from Caer Sidi, which is more important to me at level 50. But up to bout lev 35, I found the database a bit lacking.
Lastly, register with the web site. It's free and allows you to not only download the database, but to search for specific items per you class and need. So you can search for all rings that a scout can use. Then you can rank them by highest utility and see which one best suits your needs.

One other point: a database of items is only as good as your ability to get that item for your overall spec. I've found some really obscure and almost impossible items listed in several databses...so a word of advise. If I want to go after an item, a necklace or such, I always check housing first. It doesn't mean that if it's not for sale you can't get it, but the more rare an item is the tougher it will be for you to get it (or it potenitally could be an item no longer in the game), especially if it takes a BG to kill the mob that drops it. So the lesson is this...I try to have my necklaces, rings etc in my spec to be listed for sale in player housing, if not I try to get a different item to use. Just my opinion. Again, it doesn't matter that an item has 400 utitliy (this doesn't exist, but is good as an example) if you can't obtain that item.

A good scout template is hard to do because you have to account for when the scout has his bow out and for when he has his s/s out. You don't want your template to waiver much whenever you switch between those two things. Resists need to be capped in this order: Thrust, Cold, Slash, Crush, Body, Matter, Energy, Spirit, Heat.
Note on loki: make sure you use the weapons guidline checkbox. this way it won't change the skills etc when you switch from bow to SS on the major items. I had to read up on this quite a bit to understand how to use it, but on your scout spec, it will be quite usefull.
Even doing this will make it tough sometimes. I have a 50 Arms with 50 pole and 36+14 slash. When I change from the pole to SS I have the same issue, but was able to overcome it with the Weapons guideline function.

I'm working on my scout template and also using loki, but I can not get to the items database (http://www.ethinarg.com/) Anyone know why that might be? I just get a HTTP 403 Forbiden error.
