Hi. I'm new to DAoC and I am on the Merlin server. I just finished the tutorial and made it to 5th level. (woot!) My question is one of the task masters told me to go to an Instance Dungeon and gave a not to clear explanation of what it is. From what I gathered, it sort of a custom made dungeon. Am I right? Also I would like to know how do I find the before mentioned dungeon? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello!
You must have the Catacombs expansion to play the instanced dungeons. That said, if you go to the taskmaster and right click him or her they will give you all the information you need to get started. There are different taskmasters for different levels (1-5 is in your starting town) and they will direct you to the next tmaster if you are over qualified. You can find the dungeons on your in-game map. They have no name and you must have been given a task from the tmaster to enter.
There are also instanced rooms in the main catacombs dungeon. You do not need a tmaster for these rooms. You have to look at your in-game map to find those locations. In my experience as a caster it can be beneficial to have at least one other person group with you in these rooms. Not absolutly necessary but helpful.
The nice thing about instancing is that once you have cleared a mob it will not respawn behind you. So you are basically clearing as you go.

Ahh! I see. I'm just doing the 14 day trial offer and haven't decided if I'm going to continue to play or not. I still want to try it out some more before deciding if I want to be a regular player. If I do I will buy/download the Catacombs expansion. Thanks for the info!

Am I correct in understanding that unless you have Catacombs you cannot play instanced dungeons?
I was issued an instanced dungeon task by my taskmaster and could never find the dungeon. There was a tree with a hole in it but I was told that I didn't meet the requirements for the area. I assumed that it was because I was not a high enough level.
BTW: I have the Platinum Edition which is everything but catacombs.

What other towns have the catacombs instanced quests? I am a noob and all i can find is the one in mag mell.

The next level of instance dungeon is in Tir na mBeo. There are also instance dungeons in the Veil Rift but I wouldn't suggest those solo.

Not sure what the level restrictions exactly, but it's something like;
1 to 9: Mag Mel
10 to 19: mBeo
20 to 29: Howth
Next is: North TNN gate (30 to 40ish?)
The last one is at Druim Ligen (40 to 50?)
I don't know about ones outside of Hib.

I also wanted to add that TD's (Task Dungeon) are very very boring. I hated them in EQ, and I hate them in DAoC.
