The point of the game... thats a pretty broad question. Ill try to give a little insight on to what the game entails and what is to be expected.

In the beginging the game consists mainly of killing monsters and learning the character you choose, how to play him, which spells/styles work out the best. you can do quests and get little bits of gear and money here and there along withthe bonus experience that may come along with the completion of the quest. A very rewarding point to get to in the game is level 20. At this point you can enter into a battle ground that is always populated as it is one of the three battle grounds that most people choose play in. mostly because if you have an account with a level 50 character on it then you can /level a new toon straight to level 20. once you get here you get to try out your new skills on other people. when you kill the enemy (and i hope your enemy will be hibernia and midgard) when you kill them you can accumulate some thing called realm points or rps, as you get more realm points you go up in realm rank or RR every time you advance a point in realm rank you get a point to spend. you can spend this at your trainer for a bonus active or passive skill. you can also save your points to get a higher desired skill such as purge which will remove any negative effects from you such as crowd control spells, near sight and others. if your a caster you may want to get mystic crystal lore which will instantly give you a portion of your power back.

So you earned your max cap of 350 realm points by pwning hiblets that were being silly thinking they could come out of their hpk or hib player keep. and your level 24 after you go to level 25 you can no longer come back to thidranki. the next battle ground you have to look forward to with an active population is level 35-39 its called molvik and it is a fun place to be :P one of my favorites. so you go kill some monsters and you get there and then you pwn some more silly hiblets and you get 39 and your top dog. i would recomend to keep on killing them until you hit at least realm rank 2 then you will go straight into another highly populated battle grounds called leirvik. levels 40-44 also another fun place to be.

wham bam thank you hiblets for the rps. now your level 45 because you didnt really feel like staying there till you hit the cap of realm rank 3 i believe is the cap. now you can find some excellent groups to get exp with in a place called avalon city or you can hit up some catacombs which is pretty nice to find mobs to kill. after you hit. your last free level is 48 so try to get this one for free if you can time your leveling correctly. always a bonus to get 48 free.
so then your level 49 and it has been a loooooong road to get there. after you get your mini-ding level 49.5 you really think you got another long session of monster killing to get done. not to fear. hopefully you left alot of your catacombs quests uncompleted. So you spend the next hour knocking out quests in the underground forest and the deadlands and wham bam your level 50.

Woooooot! made it. now let the games begin. you can go and do master levels to gain some pretty handy abilities (you could have started these earlier if you can get in on them) now is also time to start your champion levels. the RvR or realm vs realm which is our PvP system is off the chain you wont find another like it or any better out there. its loads of fun going on a relic raid or taking keeps and towers. with the new expansion you can get a horse to ride around on at i believe level 35 but im in iraq now and havent been able to touch it so i wont tryto elabarate.

There are many other things in the game to do and have fun with i doubt i could name them all. for example though. you could go on dragon raids. you can build and costomize a house and add a merchant to it to sell items you find. you could also choose a craft to specialize in such as weopon crafting armor crafting or spell crafting and more where you could make and sell armor or where it your self or you could be a spell crafter and customize the stats on these player made things too. i feel like im taking up to much space on this thread as it is so ill let some other people throw in there 2 pennies.

Ohhhh, forgot what you said about the necro thing. necros are awesome for killing high level monsters in here. they can be one of the most powerful toons in the game. however they are not this powerful when it comes to rvr. some people choose to bring them out and they can get some kills but if one of your goals is to be a RvR god then i do not suggest a necro.

Tristan Alb for life!!

Good luck
