Newbie here. I have some questionsFollow

Hello. I'm currently running the 14 day trial, and I'm really surprised at how much I'm enjoying myself. I may even drop WoW for awhile to experience some of the end game stuff...

Anyway, here's what I'd like to know:

1) How does a newbie go about getting into a guild at this point? I know this is a pretty old game, so I'm sure most guilds have a long, established roster. Don't get me wrong - I know I have to reach level cap first...but just wondering. Even if I can't get into a guild, do people invite randoms to party with 'em for pvp/pve stuff?

2)Is there any kind of auction house or mail system? I haven't found anything as of yet.

3) I'm a dwarf Thane at the moment. Being a huge Norse mythology fan, I had to at least start with Midgard. Any tips on this class? Specializations, etc?

I guess my final question is...should I really bother getting into it that deeply? I've heard conflicting ideas about the server populations and some stuff brought up in regards to question 1, so while I'm having fun right now, I don't wanna level up just to be let down in the end.

this is a great game, i dont know about the class your trying,
i prefer Hibs, and Albs, but theres a forum for midgard, try that to get those answers.

the LFG Flag, lets folks know thatyou are looking for a guild

and you can do /b in certain areas saying what class and level you are, is looking to group for exp and fun

the battle grounds are also great social aspects......
and,,,since they have caps on level in their you wouldnt be over killed!
i wish that system had been on when i started game

;the suggestion i would give you....
is become a healer,,,,go to rvr in bg, and start healing folks,
youll get an invite,
then you can say that you are such and such other class too, and need a guild for both toons,
or just for that one..........

thats a great place to start!

enjoy, and if you decide to try Kay Alb...or Bedevere Hibs....look me up and say hi! Cilla
(do /who cilla)

Haha, yeah. I tried the [help] thing once but didn't find it too useful. I will check it again. I'm not too concerned about this character right now, though. I just wanna see some more stuff in the game so I'm sticking with him.

The VN boards are the best source for class advice. I will link you to the Thane Boards

http://vnboards.ign.com/Board.aspx?brd=20911

The VN boards also have a board for each server/cluster. If you went there and posted a message like this, saying you are new to the game and looking for a guild to get into that might help you level, provide start-up gear, advice, etc..you would get a response. These boards just are not that popular here, so less people see it.

you did not mention what server you played on, so I can't link you to the specific server board.

I would recommend Ector myself. It is a very small server, but the people are very friendly there, and Ector was recently clustered with Lamorak which means there are a lot of people in the BG's now. I say Ector b/c almost everyone there is new to that server, b/c it is a new server, and it came out after the other two classic servers. I found it very friendly, and could help you out if you went there.

There is no mail system in the game. Things are posted on the Camelot Herald and there are feedback forms you can ask questions on. The best source of info though is ingame, from an alliance or guild members.

Finding people to group with is one of the biggest problems this game does have for lower level peeps. And b/c it is your first character, you should learn the spots and everything and do it the old-fashioned way at least once, and not be power leveled. it is the only way to learn. Catacombs is the best place to level up in without a doubt, and ever starting completely new on Ector 2 weeks ago, I found it easy to find people to group with at certain areas and got into a guild very fast.

i would imagine this is possible on any server though, you just have to get lucky. Some guilds are meant for high end player vs. Player, and would want nothing to do with you, but more guilds than not are always looking for new friendly people to join them.

Good luck,
Vestra/Heftil
