Why does my sorc get pwn'd by archer's?Follow

I am a 50 sorc and im always in a fight or trying to take a tower and i have a ranger trying to kill me. Once it get's by my pbt it hits for so much dmg which kills me very fast with it's huge range and los problems. Is there somthing I can do to minimize the 400+ dmg a shot?

soon as you get hit by an arrow, /face and qc mezz and hope your healer's on the ball. Past RR5 you could use that I guess but i wouldn't. Just stay outta LOS if there's alot o archers in the tower. Personally I dont even participate in siege, merely patrol for inc, but that's just me

Well, QQ mezzing will help if you're in range. Otherwise they'll just shoot at max range and you can't do anything. I just run from stealthers unless they're unstealthed and fighting someone else.

well the main problem is my 1850 mess is not enough range 2 get these archer's, it always seams that they are hitting me from 2k range or farther so it's hard 2 run... plus on my server it is usually a grp of 5 ranger assisting so i wanted 2 know if there is a resist that i could max out 2 minmize dmg?

1st: If you are solo with no healer as a caster then you should die to a stealther. Whether assasin or archer you should die. If you wish to run solo alot, then prepare to die ALOT as a solo caster you are easy prey. I know, I am an archer, I love to kill your kind.
Suggestion: Try running with DI healers.

2nd: ML9 pets wtfpwn archers. Your a sorc you can have pets. Nuff said I think.

3rd: Amnesia its a looooong range spell. It doesnt do damage but it will interrupt an archer just fine.
/face /qc amnesia

4th: What are you doing standing in LoS at a tower siege?

Sounds like your too eager to get a kill to think about protecting yourself from obvious threats.

Last poster called that one. need to know what limitations are. QC Aoe Amnesia a couple of times and move outta range. That or go hug the wall.

so if you're a solo caster you should die to stealthers eh? Bring the archer out of the tower and let's see how it goes 1v1 with a caster, especially against a pet class. If you are at least RR5 on a sorc(which the origional poster doesn't seem to be), no you shouldn't lose 1v1 with a stealther, unless all your toys are down. I haven't rvr'd since the latest patch, so I can't say how much they boosted assassin's, but before the patch I loved it when a solo stealther jumped me.....

your right. Stealthers should never be able to beat a class with the lowest hit points, worst armor factor, and no melee skills in the game.

Im so sorry I forgot that the casters role in this game was to be invincible.

Look what I am saying is that a solo caster (Remember least HP's, Lowest AF, Highest DPS, No Melee) SHOULD die to a stealther who doesnt completely mess up. It SHOULDN'Teven be a competition. The current game play is actually broken. With casters having no fear of anything.

Random caster: Hi, I am going to sit here and wait for some stupid class to attempt to attack me while I ML9 my pet, MOC, stun/nuke, Lifetap them into the ground.

Rogues were originally designed as the ANTI-Caster, that is our role. Mythic lost their way for a while, but I think they have finally found the right path these last few patches and are heading in the right direction.

Currently if you are a rr5+ caster getting owned by a solo archer..then you are a really really bad player with the sole ability of the 1-2 button push kill and absolutely no knowledge of other class weaknesses.

the solo assassin's that had some sucess against me, landed the PA chain and poison and vanished, leaving the poison ticking on me. With the champ levels, it's not as big a deal now, but there were a couple times, i had to release my pet and lt him just to stay alive, and that didn't always work. I would say about 50%. Now there's little or no risk to the assassin that I'm gonna uncover him before, and when he vanished i'm getting low on hp, so i'm not tryin to uncover him, so let's say 2 outta 4 times he got rps, and had little risk involved.. sounds fair to me, especially since I either have to purge2 MOC2 or get RR5 off before the CD to even stand a chance. Blowing 3 RR's worth of points all at once SHOULD give me a chance to save my life imo.

Not to mention, it's only a problem against a moc lt'er, what's a wiz gonna do? QC root and run with the dot ticking? MOC nuke? Hib casters annoyed me on the inf, stun nuking and all that. Still wasn't a problem with PA chain and a little poison. Seems pretty simple to me, I wouldn't attack a SM/BD with my inf and expect to win if he has any RR's. Any moc lt'er is a problem for any other toon. I think this patch affected tanks more than anything, and balanced the stealth wars a little.

My point is just a stealther should have to pick and choose their time. A good PA chain with some poision will kill just about any caster anyway, the fact that a MOC LT'er has a chance vs a stealther is working as intended imo. From what I read and hear, stealthers want it to be an automatic win versus tanks, casters and whatever. A heavy tank losing to a stealther 1v1 anytime is not along the lines of game design, what point is there for a heavy tank, if you can play a toon that has stealth and can melee just as well pvp? Most of the time stealthers aren't solo anyway at least not on my cluster :/

I'm not a big fan of archers just because unless it's a siege situation and they're defending, I think they're at a huge disadvantage. Aside from adding to fights etc, i dont see how they can get rps consistently. A pet class is gonna own em and any tank's just gonna engage em, doesn't leave alot for them to kill. Get them atop a tower and assisting tho, and it's insane how quickly they mow toons down.

Your 100% right. Assassins had it bad just before this last patch came out, only because they couldnt get the CritStrike line off through all the brittles/BT. BTW this is just my opinion on how things SHOULDSHOULD be. Im not saying that stealthers should win all fights. But 1v1 vs a caster 90% of the time the stealther should eat that caster alive. When I say that I will also agree with you that 1v1 vs a tank an assasin should have only a small 10% chance to win and only if he uses his RA's/ML's properly. This is how I see it to provide balance Stealthers > Casters > Tanks/Hybrids > Stealthers. Before the last patch the game sat at casters > all.

With this equation it should force casters to run with tanks for protection vs. stealthers and tanks to run with casters for protection vs. other casters. Casters are the range damage gods, this is why stealthers should roll them so easily, a stealther is the only class that is able to get close to a caster without getting killed first.

I dont believe that people should be out rolling casters (like they are now) because they are solo GODS. Which bd's, any hib caster w/stun, SM's, cabbies, sorcs are all solo Gods with the ability to qc CC and moc LT for incredible amounts of damage at a 1.2 sec casting speed even after moc.

Ok...so you have to use RA's to survive a fight against a class designed to kill you. Thats what the RA's are for. Considering, as a scout, if I get targeted by a caster unstealthed I have to A) stack up on Aom (3 or greater just to have a chance)
b) Use purge
c) Use IP
d) Most times use Sojourner ML9 or FZ
Just to survive long enough to restealth or get away which happens 10% of the time. Most times I dont live long enough to take 2 steps as my body explodes upon 1.2 seconds after a caster gets into range

Hopefully mythic will finally look upon archers and give us the needed fix that Assasins/hybrids/heavy tanks have gotten. For the longest time stealthers were resigned to hunting each other because those were the only targets they could safely take.

Archers have become an annoyance rather than the long range anti-caster they were designed as. Why? Because for me to do my max damage and even have a chance to kill a solo caster I
a) have to post 1.82 take two shots to kill BG and then BT
(even at rapid fire that is 3 total seconds of exposure to /face /qc *any spell) and I still havent done any damage.
b) One spell that interrupts me and I have to halve my damage and double my draw to do damage while he proceeds to moc destroy me this looks something like this
[b]*Robain hits you for 186
*You cast MoC
*You hit Robain for 600
*You hit Robain for 586
*You hit Robain for 650
*Robain hits you for 186
*You hit Robain for 400
*You hit Robain for 623
*You hit Robain for 400
*You kill Robain

And this happens 4 out of 5 times when I attack casters alone. Yeah I get a few kills. But more and more often I find myself holed up in a tower just to get rp's without having to sacrifice myself or every RA I have. This is why I have resigned myself to killing other stealthers.
