Can anyone tell me which class is better solo, mentalist or druid? I am trying to get a Sylvan character going. Thanks.

as far as I know a mentalist is much better suited to solo. however I am unsure if a sylvan can be a ment.

The mentalist appears to me to be impossible to solo. However, the good thing about both classes are they are in high demand by groups and you will level much faster with those classes in groups. Just go mana mentalist or nurture druid.

The good thing is they can both be in demand for groups.

If you are really looking to solo, then I think most people would go with a Nature Druid. They seem to hold up well solo, and they have many ways to get away from bad situations without dying. From what many say you can take on yellows non-stop, but you have to deal with everyone else griping about your spec line if you ever group. So, only do this if you plan to solo almost non-stop.

I tried a Mentalist line with the DoT's pre-Catacombs, and while I rarely died, it seemed that every 5th or 6th pulls the resists would cause me to end up running for my life. Then you have to sit and rest and so on. Drags down the xp/time. Oh, and this was just on yellows. I tried a few oranges and the resists were so annoying I gave up on the class.

I would think a mentalist could solo okay.

They can charm pets to get initial aggro, then you can DoT/nuke the mob down.

heal over time should keep aggro on pet, and power over time should cut down med time.

You might struggle in the very early levels before you have access to all these things, but the mentalist does have a lot of tools.

It can help almost anyone level by casting the Heal over Time, which like Devine Intervention, does not draw aggro to the caster, and in PvE, heals sufficiently.

If you go Druid, Nature druid is only viable option to solo...keep enough in nurture to give adequate buffs, but the pet and DoT will be how you kill on a druid.

Problem with mentalist is that their pet gets a resist roll every 30 seconds. Its irritating to have your pet turn on you. Down, shep, down!

I assume the same tricks work for mentalists as do minstrels and you can recharm them before the timer restarts..not sure though. Can always charm a lower level pet. I would think a mentalist could charm yellows very reliably and hardly ever have it turn on them, just as minstrels can. Minstrels can charm reds though, and those are the nasty ones.
