Still alive?Follow

So I am a avid WoW player. Started about a year ago went through many characters then found my nitch as a Tank aka a warrior and he is now lvl 60. I was walking through the store today and saw this game. I know it has been out for about 5 years now and I would like to know more as it caught my interest. Is this game still alive? How is the class balance? (important because warriors in wow are just starting to be fixed) How is the lvling curve to get to end game? Over all I guess I would like to know more about the game and I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance.

Hello Merithak! I'm one of the administrators of our DAoC website and would be happy to answer any questions that you might have.

There have been many many changes since the game was last in your hands. I'm not sure where to begin. Housing was added, lots and lots of RvR adjustments with castles being an increased focus in battles, tierred RvR realm areas, and much more.

What have you played in the past and what are you looking for today? You can certainly tank still in DAoC as a warrior if you want to keep that mantra. Great to know you're interested again!

The game is very good if you like fighting other people, aka PvP or RvR. It is difficult to get going as someone completely new to game though. If you know some people from WoW that play here (and there are thousands who have tried WoW), then that would be great if you could get hooked up to a decent guild in a decent alliance.

The basics are there are 3 realms here as compared to WoW's 2 realms.

Each realm has 15-16 classes, with many race choices which give customization to your character from the outset.

The game is fairly balanced between casters and tanks, w/ most hybrids a bit behind the curve, but still fun to play. Stealthers do okay, although most group b/c soloing can be frustrating. True archer classes are lacking a bit, but are promised upgrades soon.

Leveling casters is a bit cheaper to do for a total new person to game. you might want to consider it. There are the normal ruleset servers, and there are 3 servers that are called "classic" servers (the bossiney cluster). The Bossiney cluster may be a bit easier for you to find other new people to the game, level with and get groups, but you will be missing out on some of the context of the game including artifacts and Master Levels.

this game is more about what to do after you are Level 50, then getting to Level 50 (perhaps a bit different than WoW).

Ask some more questions, and I will try to answer them.
