New Player, Seriously considering the game!Follow

#1 Jul 23 2007 at 11:02 AM Rating: Decent

Hi! I've been coming to the forums to read input on several games,
And I REALLY think this is the game for me. I've been playing all kinds of MMO's
for years, UO was my first foray, then I did EQ for a stint, Star Wars Pre-CU and Pre-NGE, Lord of the RIngs online -(Incredibly well polished, but incredibly boring)-, FFXI for about 2 or so years, and WoW which I really don't like so much.

From all my experiences in all these games, I think player housing is one of my favorite things, EQ and WoW had no such thing, so I didn't play them much, and FFXI just had a little room you could go in to put item, which is basically sufficient cause I like having open space in my inventory.

Basically what I want to know is,

What is a good pvp - pve server
Where can I get a nice house
Is it hard to get housing
And is heretic as sexy as it sounds? Cause it sounds pretty sexy.. I'd go on a date with you hereti... >.>
What is the housing used for? And can other people come inside of it? ala UO

Anyways, I like pvp and pve, FFXI doesn't have any real PVP, and I love the game, just burned out on it, been in a lot of HNMLS'es those are the end game "guilds" that farm high level areas for powerful stuffs; WoW pvp is like the only reason I even touch the game, and there's no way I'll ever go back to SWG after NGE happened and none of my friends play it anymore either, UO got retarded when they started putting Elves and sunglasses in it, <Mondains Legacy>

I just really am looking for another MMO I can go longterm with, I'm tired of paying 49 bucks to get a game, and realize it just sucks balls, and I feel cheated out of my hard earned money. DAoC I have faith in you, so please fill me in. ^_^

OK, first off, the classic servers are best on population so you'd have the most luck pvp-ing and grouping there. I have a house on the Killibury cluster Merlin server, and it's really useful. I can sell my crafted items through a consignment merchant, store stuff in a vault and set permissions for my buds to come raid my stash if i should so choose. You have to buy the lot, house, vaults, and npcs, but they don't cost a whole bunch, but for a beginner it'll be too expensive. My favorite part of the housing is decoration and trophies. I've only got two trophies in my house at the moment, but you can place shields and swords on the walls as well as (crappy) paintings and tapestries. The cool thing is you can take the weapon you carry around click it and put a duplicate of it on the wall that can be removed or rotated in place, same for shields. As for Tic's I have no idea how sexy they are, but most I see are inconnu, and they're just painful to look at. BTW, anniversary edition of the game should run you 20 bucks, comes with one month free, and it's $15 per month after that, but running it yearly or every six or three months cheapens the cost a bunch.

All i can tell you man, is that this game truely, and totally rules any other game ive ever played. I was a new player, and with the (not so gentle) coaching of my friend, i picked up on the game really fast (which suprised some people). The game is complex to learn for a begginer, but if your not a stranger to MMORPGS (which it seems your not) you should have noooo problem.

The game itself i the beggining is great, but tends to get a bit boring, as you settle in for the long-haul of grinding for levels. But the level-based PvP areas give you a refreshing break from the daily grind. keep grinding (or getting power-leveled if someone is so generous) and you'll reach 50 in no time

The end-game PvP is truely stunning, the New Frontiers are a sight to behold, thats where the TRUE game lies in my opinion

Thats about it for me, hope you buy the game (or even read this post...been about...2 months since you started this thread =P)
