Clarity on possible "fresh start"?Follow

Hi guys,

Has there been any clarity made on people who previously played XIV and would like to give their characters a "fresh start" so to speak? I'm sure I read a nod toward it somewhere but can't find any real clarity on it. Like, for example, I'd love to reset my characters levels etc back to 1 and enjoy the reboot from the beginning but do want to keep all the extra frippery such as the Goobbue mount.

Does anyone know if this kinda thing is or will be possible? Any links to something from the team on the official boards?

As always, help much appreciated!

I believe this is not possible. What you're talking about is basically a character reset and Yoshi P has been 100% adamant about not doing a character reset. If your looking for a 100% fresh start, you'll need to create a brand new character.

It would be a neat option for people and would probably work well, but that's not a fresh start.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

If you want a fresh start at level 1 you'll have to make a new character. you won't be able to keep things previously acquired. But if you didn't get max levels on all your jobs then you'll be able to have a "fresh start" by doing all the lowbie stuff on a new job as opposed to just destroying it on max level jobs like i intend to do which will allow you to keep the goobue mount and what not.

I don't think they're gonna let you reset your character to level 1 and keep your items, no.

as for me I'm just going to make a new character. I have a level 50 lancer among other things but I don't care. I'll just level a different class this time. Chocobos are cooler than fat goobues anyway. they look like big naked plant babies

Yeah but they could be fun to run up on new players to freak them out a little.

What about altering their appearance instead of resetting levels? I saw possible name changes mentioned in another thread, but what about a complete name, race, sex, & looks makeover?

That's a tough call on what I'd do with or without that option. I have the one character with a class at 50. All other classes ranging from 25-36. That's a good head start, but probably behind others who'll be on the legacy servers. Plus I gave all his money to a friend when I left.Smiley: cry And I'll be quite lost when I 1st log in. That makes a fresh start also sound appealing. Experiencing the new game from the beginning. Though it'd be cool to find that friend still playing and hit them up with a random /tell of "Where's my money?!"Smiley: grin

Either way I may do both. Check in with the old character and start up a new 1. Then decide which 1 I'd like to focus on.

Characters carried over from 1.xx serves will have the oppertunity to change race/gender and apperance in the character create then they load their character up for the first time.

There is no resetting a character from scratch level wise. In this instance you would have to delete and remake the character.

New characeters will be able to roll on 'fresh' servers that will feature absolutely no legacy characters. New players will be able to roll their characters on either established or fresh servers.

Thanks. That sounds pretty good to me. Gives me some options to consider.

If I can rename my character and alter the appearance I will keep my original character. If not ill just start over I guess.

Appearance yes. They are investigating whether they can do names or not, I haven't heard anything new on that yet.

I think that there's also supposed to be a new class that will be available to play on re-launch, so there just may be the option to start playing the new class.

The only appearance change that I may make to my 1.0 character is her hair if they give us new hairstyles. Other than that, I'm keeping my character as-is.

Summoner is the new job.

Fresh start for me. I thought I had gotten the FFXIV bug out of my system when I quit a year ago...then I came across the benchmark trailer on phone while waiting for jury duty. I'm pretty sure the muttered, self loathing "Sonofab!@#$" offended the senior citizen next to me as she promptly moved.

Hoping they do offer a name change in relation to also allowing us to change character models completely,

with the new transition to the new game basically a few malms away, I'd love to keep my original characters levels but with a whole new character if you know what i mean.

I would be swayed to start a brand new character, as long as i knew i'd still get my mount and keep my original goodies like the arm guards etc.

To be honest, if i was legacy i would put my characters to the new servers, but i would start a new character. Fresh start, after all you can say its a new game, and when i am bored with lvling i would just hope to my older character and do some high end stuff best way to see everything the new game has to offer.

edit: My biggest problem of course would be picking the name since i am sure that they will be taken.Especially if old characters come over to the new servers. :P

I am actually considering starting from scratch, but I just don't know.

I have a couple of RL friends who want to play, and if I can get them to join whatever legacy server I'm on, then I may just keep my character. I have pld, war and blm at 50, and I'd hate to have to redo all those levels. Also, I have a few jobs that I never even touched, so I'd still be able to enjoy all the low-level content of Version 2.

However, it would be kind of cool to start off completely fresh on one of the new servers. Being on a world where everything is new to everyone would definitely be fun.

I'm leaning toward continuing my previous character, but we'll see.

Hopefully there will be a decent amount of legacy members with low to med levels. I e got whm to 50 abd war to 45 and ranging down from there to a few jobs at 1. I dnt want to relevel and still want to low party. Im sure there will tho :)

I have a level 25, but Im going to delete it as soon as I get into the game and make a new one on a world for new players ;D. I never played past level 25 becuase the game was just too broken for me to countinue with it, so a fresh starts on a fresh server (where everyone starts at level 1) is my aim.

I haven't played since 1.0 Beta, so I will be starting from scratch obviously. That's okay by me, I want to experience what this game has to offer from the ground up. Granted it would have been nice to have Legacy Status for the extra perks, but it is not the end of the world.
