I used ps3 with motion joy for some time. There is also the official FFXIV white controller that I bought, and I wouldn't recommend you get that. The dead zone shifted in the right analog, making my camera constantly turn. I didn't like the 360 controller because the D-pad isn't reliable, and I'd accidentally hit up and down delaying my inputs. I was more comfortable with my ps2 controller though, since I also used that for FFXI. I even set up my button inputs the same way ^_^.

If this happens this will be my controller. I don't own a Wiii U.
How good is the battery?
Has anyone used a keyboard interface on the controller? Is it responsive?
I just purchased the U boost and It arrived today. The battery on the controller isn't very good I'm afraid. You'll get about 2 hours of constant play. U boost apparently doubles it. The battery pack isn't available yet as amazon has it listed as "Usually ships in 3-5 weeks," meaning the product isn't ready I guess. The Uboost along side the battery pack is supposedly able to give you 20 hours of game play.
As for the keyboard, I wouldn't recommend it. It's would be slow. The letters don't have much distance between them. Unless you type using the stylus, you'll spend more time correcting typos than conveying your message.
