Wtf is with that pre order date!?!?
#3 Mar 06 2013 at 7:05 AM Rating: Excellent
Everyone is using that date, because they don't have a date yet. Sometime this year is all they know. I'm sure as the beta continues they'll start having an idea of when things will be ready.

Try over 6 months. When ARR was shown at E3 they updated it from the old 1.0 cover. My Versus XIII pre-order is supposedly coming in 2014 too!

Yea, I'm an amazon fiend! 240 orders last year lol... (Those card rewards!)Yea well, I usually just go ahead and pre order stuff soon as it shows up. They usually sell it 6 bucks cheaper. Plus You always get that preorder price guarantee! They send regular emails about them too. They're still sending me apologies for not having a date for Versus XIII and now GTAV. I noticed because the ps3 version of XIV I preordered updated and the cover was changed to ARR.

Do you have to purchase the original game before buying this one?

No, ARR is the full game, not just an expansion. If you have the original, however, you don't need to buy ARR if you're going to play on the PC.

Noting what you just posted my local Walmart has 3 Ff14 PC in the cheap game bin? Are they supposed to be there? Thinking of buying them and holding on until ARR comes out?

Wow I didn't even notice that as I saw the big ad for the new FFXI expansion and didn't scroll down. It most certainly does say coming summer 2013. Good catch :)

Well. since they have stated that it will go out at the same time for both ps3 and pc, we should guess that they mean for both.

I pre-ordered my copy for PC through Amazon just to have the physical package for collecting purposes. My collector's edition 1.0 box is on a finely shellacked pillar in the corner of the room, under museum light. =>_>= ~Hi everyone! First post here. =^-^=/

So this basically means that if you buy a 1.0 copy now you'll still have to buy ARR when it comes out since the code wasn't registered before the servers shut down?

And as for the question about weather retailers should be selling them or not, the answer is no because our store got an email instructing us to take the old copies off the shelf and destroy them.
#25 Mar 24 2013 at 9:53 PM Rating: Excellent
No. If you buy a 1.0 copy, you can throw away the disks but keep the code. When ARR is released, you can register your 1.0 code, and that will entitle you to a free copy of ARR.

The only time you have to buy a new copy of the game is if:
1. You never purchased 1.0 at all, ever, or you never registered your copy of 1.0 and have since lost the box with the code in it
2. You want to play on PS3. Regardless of whether you had a 1.0 copy or not, ARR on PS3 will require a new purchase of the game.

And i am back with SE response. I must say they were fast and i was pleased with their answer hehe.

So here is what i asked : "I have a copy of final fantasy XIV that i got a while back but due to some events i didn't have the time to register the game nor even install it.Now that i can i saw that you are re launching the game. Can i still use the copy of final fantasy xiv (with the unused code) i had bought back then and play the new ff xiv. Thank you for your time."

and this is the answer i got from them : "Dear ***,

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

We are very sorry that you are unable to register for Final Fantasy XIV.

Since November 11th, 2012, all worlds of Final Fantasy XIV are offline and active service accounts as well as registrations are suspended until the redesign "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn" is released. You will then be able to register the code you already purchased. Unfortunately, we do not have any information on the exact time of the release at this time.

At the moment, the beta phase for A Realm Reborn is underway. If you wish to participate, you can apply for a Beta code here: http://entry.ffxiv.com/beta/eu

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Kind regards,

The Square Enix Support Centre team"

With that we now know that any unused or w/e code from 1.0 we have we can use it to play the new a realm reborn.Something that i believe as i already said is right since i/we bought the game. With that response (and a fast one as well) i must say that SE gain a few points in my eyes!

Hope this helps the rest of the people to easy their minds.

Cheers

This is the post i made in that thread with the response i got from SE when i contacted them. You can obviously see any unregistered code you have can be used for ARR.
