I really don't know what I want to say for my 10k, my life has changed so much from when I first started posting here Smiley: smile

My first post here was in the Final Fantasy XI main (=10) in July of 2004. I spent most of my time posting in our server forum, but back then the Bismark forum was in someone's Journal rather than having a dedicated forum. I also lurked for at least half a year before posting, because I was in the XI PS2 beta back in 2003 I believe it was. I happened across this the other day while I was looking through some old binders, this particular binder I got from Sony for being part of the Gamer Advisory Panel. That same group was the reason I got into the XI beta as well Smiley: thumbsup

My name was originally Wintaru, but I decided to shorten it to Wint after I started playing other games besides XI (it's short for Windurstian Tarutaru, my wife's idea Smiley: smile). I found a few old pics, unfortunately all of my beta images are long lost, which really bums me out Smiley: frown

My old sig I used for our LS forum

Earliest photo I could find of Wintaru, doing my first AF fight with Marchelute

Back then I had been married for a little over a year. We lived in a tiny apartment (less than 1000 square feet), and had no kids. I worked as a data entry clerk for the same company that I work for today (as a UI programmer).

In 2005 my life changed for the first time when Aedyn was born:

In 2008 things changed again when Zoe was born:

And in 2012, our last, Michael:

These are the kids today Smiley: nod

I got promoted in 2010. I migrated over to the XIV forums and have been here ever since. I've since been made Lead Content Manager for XIV, hopefully I can get the forums in shape for ARR! One thing I've noticed, especially when reading the Official XIV forums (but even lesser forums like the Official Playstation Forums), Zam has a unique and enviable forum population. You guys are all awesome Smiley: nod

Grats Wint... nice retrospective... it's really quite staggering when you to think about how much life has changed over 10 years.

Holy **** I've been here longer than Wint.

Thanks for somehow making me feel old Wint lol.

Seriously though, I remember seeing you around as Wintaru for awhile back in the day. Wayyyy back in the day, when I was a young warrior, full of **** and vinegar. 'Course, now that I'm older and wiser all the vinegar has spoiled and I'm just full of ****.

Grats on everything Wint :D. It's good to know you aren't just an omnipotent force flinging silence spells and slinging the ban hammer over your shoulder... I dunno, there is a joke in there somewhere but I'm far too tired to give it more thought. My hat goes off to you and being able to still have time to do what you love while herding a full house of hooligans. The best to you and yours.

I was reminded the other day when my wife and I went to London for our honeymoon in 2002. We bought our first digital camera with a giant 256mb memory card. We ended up having to delete pictures because we ran out of room and had no computer to offload them to Smiley: frown

Now my phone holds many times the amount that camera could, with much higher resolutions as well Smiley: laugh

Congratulations, another moment to make you remember all those years.

Totally cute kids, seeing pictures like that makes me want to say yes to the other half (she wants kids now).

Still well done for the years of XI!

That is a very nice stroll through time there Wint.

It makes me reflect on where I've been and where I'm going... I was just starting medical school at the peak of XI. I might just have become a neurosurgeon if it weren't for XI lol!!!! I probably spent wayyy to many hours studying XI cooking recipes and not enough studying anatomy :)

I was also on the forums back then too, and I actually still have my account I used back then... however I made a new account for the XIV forums.

It's just funny to think how much final fantasy in general has been there, as a major part of my life... it's also interesting that as my life met it's darkest days towards the last 2 years of medical school, final fantasy as a brand too met it's darkest days. Hopefully, as I will graduate in just a few months and things will certainly brighten up in my life, things for FF will also take a turn for the better!

Here's to Wint, to FF seeing it's best days ahead of it, and to all of us who have been there since the beginning!

Congo Rats on making it to the ultra elite 10k+ post Admin club! Here's your membership card to the clubhouse, please remember to put the pool towels in the hampers on the way out, and whatever you do, don't trip on the floor fish!

We'll have to come up with a suitably suitable title for you now!

It's weird seeing pictures. For some reason I imagined you Japanese. 10k is so far away, I should really post more nonsense to catch up. Congratulations!

Our mental pictures of others are seldom correct, it's usually pretty jarring to see what people really look like Smiley: smile I'm usually WAAAAAAY off Smiley: laugh

It's true. I don't think I want to know what Wint thought I looked like before he saw what I really looked like. I wonder how far off he was.

If I had to guess, probably this. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lftlyqIMXV1qbgdqpo1_500.jpg

I donno, my mental image of you wasn't all that far off, I don't think.

When people see me for the first time they're usually taken aback. Especially if they've heard my voice before seeing me.
