So i am a little confused now, long time i stopped to check how "remake" is doing, is the game ready to play now?
Do i have to buy another copy of the game?
I am installing the game again with my old copy atm

The FF XIV servers are down months now. They are making the new one A realm reborn. Right now we are in beta phase 1 and a week away from beta phase 2. If you have the original game you don't need to buy a new one for when it goes out again.

Estimates are sometime this summer, but no later than the end of 2013 for sure.
Just to be clear your old copy is pretty worthless as far as playing the game goes since there will be a new copy distributed. If you have already bought the game you can download the new version for free so you won't need to pay but installing your old copy is pointless.
They did hint that you would need valid registration codes, so don't trash the game entirely.
I think it goes without saying that you keep any codes you get. But besides that why throw a game in the first place! It does have a nice cover!

I'm pretty sure that most people that bought the game have registered their codes already. Which makes me wonder how that whole thing is going to work.

You may also want to join the "New Player" servers when the game comes back up. Unless you got a bunch of cool stuff. Since you said you haven't played in 2yrs though, you probably missed all the cool items and character data. Still keep all your stuff as you will need the codes and your SE account to get your free ARR download, otherwise you will have to buy it again.

You might also get lucky and get into the Beta by signing up: HERE!
The Beta is about to be n Phase 2, Phase 3 is closed and Phase 4 is open to everyone so you don't have to wait to long. The Road Map for all Beta information and release speculation can be found: HERE!

I am one of those that had bought the game but didn't register the code due to some things going on at that time. There was a thread here though that i posted about this. I contact SE and asking them if my unregistered code is still valid and they told me it is. Once ARR goes live i can play the game with the code i already have.
Anyone who had registered their code will be given a link to download the new client for free. Anyone who has a valid registration code they didn't use before can register their SE account with it once the game registration page is open again, at which point they'll also be given a link to download the new client for free.
It's not as if you can play the game if you don't have a valid account anyway, so SE really doesn't lose much by letting the free download go out into the wild. If you don't have a reg code for 1.0, you'll have to buy the game to get one.

I'm sure that you will have to have a VALID email address for you SE account that they will send your link to or allow access to the DL. As a precaution I would make sure you can log into the SE website, found HERE and be sure your contact info is updated.
