What would YOU choose for the next new job?Follow

#1 May 02 2013 at 9:33 PM Rating: Decent
I know there's a ton of threads like this, but out of boredom, what new job/class do you want after Summoner?

I'm not talking about what most people would want, what the game probably needs, what will most probably get added (Musketeer's Guild, etc.)

but if the developers' sole goal was to please YOU, which job would you want next?

I would probably want Ninja.

As much as I want to see thief... something totally new and original would be really cool. Or a class that really hasn't seen an incarnation in the main FF series, like Green Mage or something else obscure.

Ninja or Thief

These sorts of jobs will come in time but I was bummed that they weren't in 1.0 and don't seem to be in ARR.

Like the other poster an alternate never before seen job, like a mime or time mage would be cool, but I'd rather have a Nin or Thf.

Thief is a big hole in the existing job lineup.

One of the more obscure FF jobs might be cool to see, time mage maybe, or oracle. There's a lot they could do, but they're limited by the armory system. They'd almost have to add new weapon types for any new job they roll out.. either that or pull some shenanigans where a job has a multiclass pre-requisite, and being the job enables the use of different weapon types than the classes that got it.. for instance something like:

Job:Ninja
- Thaumaturge-15
- Marauder-15
- Lancer-30
- Equips katanas as Ninja only

So what you'd have there is a weapon type that isn't equippable by any class, but can be used by Ninjas while they're Ninjas.

It's pretty wacky, but it IS a way around the armory system's limitations.

The game needs another healer. Another Ranged DPS couldn't hurt either.

I more meant, instead of what the game needs, what addition would make you personally happy/really want to use?

I would like to see Blue mage. It is a job that can be basically whatever the developers need it to be, since blue magic is versatile.

I'd like to see Thief. I'm not sure how they'd implement it, but most Final Fantasy games have a "Steal/Mug" ability and especially if they're going for a nostalgic throwback title it would be nice to have it.

Others...
Ninja, Samurai, Dark Knight, Blue Mage

Anything built around sword magic or techniques.
Jobs based around Cyan's sword tech or Cid Orlandu's magic sword.

I'd like to see a Mime job. For some reason that one always appealed to me. Dark Knight, Samurai and Ninja would also be welcome as melee damage, but I almost prefer for them to hold off and do something original with those later. I don't want a bunch of jobs that have roughly identical playstyles because they didn't take the time to think through how they could be really unique. A job like Mime at least requires them to exercise some creativity and come up with something that plays differently.

Oh another job that would be neat would be Machinist like Edgar from FFVI. Using an automatic crossbow or breaking out a chainsaw might not work in this particular Final Fantasy, but it's a job that isn't seen to often.

There's no need to reach so far... the armory system allows for lots of different job possibilities.

The class could be assassin, and the job could be ninja. Both use katanas.

Boom, success!

I'd like to see an unconventional healing class. Like a class that heals by "attacking" their teammates or a class that heals by setting up healing zones.

I wouldn't mind a Berserker/Dancer mix up.

Ultimately I'd love Red Mage though as I just love how they look in their job specific armour.

Chemist as a healer which doesn't use mana but TP instead. Throwing pots and mixtures for healing and buffing and dual guns for debuffing. The healing should be just as viable as WHM but a different playstyle.

I'd like to see Samurai take a darker path Onimusha style.
