Probably what will happen is you will be sent a code to input in the account management on your PS3 for early access, then you will be given a few days to week or so to input your game disk key in order to continue to play, after you receive them in the mail. This is how most games handle early access.

Oh I really hope that's what happens. I was getting mighty nervous about this situation.

On the issue of early access in PS3, it might be possible that if you get into beta, you can get early access, since is the same client, you will have to download a final patch for the final product game, but if you pre order the game, maybe SE will allow you to download the client before early access starts, so that you can play on time.

That is what I am thinking. Same client used for the Beta will be given to the pre-order players. Then it shuts down or goes out of date so you have to use the Disc... Pretty much exactly what you said, lol.

Update: I've received a reply to my new inquiry:

Quote:
Hello, I previously asked a question about my order
using this form. The reply I received clearly indicated my
question was not read by the person responding, forcing me to ask again.

What are my "Preorder Codes", the codes which will grant access to the
preorder bonuses?

The reply:

Quote:
Thank you for contacting the Square Enix online store.

The product that you ordered is a pre-order and has not yet been
released to the public. Although we do not have an estimated release
date, as soon as it is available your order will be promptly fulfilled
and you will be notified via email.

If you purchased via credit card, rest assured your card will not be
charged until the product has been released.

The reply included my serial numbers, this time calling them "Digital Rights".
I would have preferred a response that directly addressed the words "preorder code", but it looks like
Digital River is not in a position to provide an answer. The response was pretty prompt, however.
I appreciated that and it puts a plus for them in my book.

Just to expand on what i said earlier, from experience in other games, when you are part of beta, and you pre-purchase the game, they give you a serial code, which then activates your account, letting you download the final patch from beta to Release. Now i cannot speak of physical bought copies, but if you pre-order the game online, you should have no problem, and i am pretty sure SE will release information on how they will handle this soon. But i am pretty sure it will be as i outlined.

That "code" is for early access and then you got another for the items. Since you won't have a physical copy to install in the PS3, I guess they want you to use the PC?

That info is not clear yet, for me anyway. However since I play on PC too, this isn't an issue. See if some info comes around by Friday. Ill post here if I see it.

When I preordered the reguar pc version Amazon gave me the code (singular) right away. I think the code is preorder and early access in 1

Likewise my preorder with amazon.co.uk.
I received a preorder code, singular, almost immediately, mine was only ordered at the back end of last week.
Standard edition for PC, I have the original CE so didn't need to buy the CE again. Just got the standard for the early access really.

You only get one code. That is for both. However, will that allow you early access on the PS3? I don't know how that will work.

I'm not sure where you entered your code, unless that was a necropost from the future (after August 8th, presumably).

Right now, all you can enter is your e-mail address: http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com/us
