Which race will you play? Follow

#1 May 28 2013 at 2:20 PM Rating: Good
I was told that race really didn't matter when starting out in XI and more or less that was true. Any short comings could be made up with gear selections. However we all saw the galka with the incredible HP and that taru smn with more mp than HP.

In XI I rolled a galka for my first character, nine levels later I rerolled as a mithra because she was better to watch run lol. I never regreted my decision but given a new chance to choose I am rethinking.

What are you thinking? Are you basing your decision on ffxi or what job you plan on playing or you just like the way they look?
Do we know how race will effect us yet at later levels?

I'm not sure if you still need premium to do this or not, but this seems like it calls for a poll.

Which race are you planning to play
Hyur :9 (13.8%)
Elezen :11 (16.9%)
Miqo'te :23 (35.4%)
Roegadyn :7 (10.8%)
Lalafell :15 (23.1%)
Total:65

Btw, it's distinctly possible I misspelled.....all....of those. I'm doing it off the cuff.

Female Highlander. Finally, an option for female characters that fit my kind of aesthetics. I appreciate what the Midlanders have to offer, but it's not quite enough.

I'm torn! My 1.0 character is an elvaan, but I'm thinking of changing to either a lala or male miquote. I think I read somewhere that we can reroll our 1.0 characters' races but still keep our levels. Is that right?

Yep. All returning 1.0 characters get the option to re-customize everything.

I still have no idea what the differences are between Midlander and Highlander. The only thing that came across my mind when you told me that you were going to be a Highlander was an imaginary chibi version of you screaming "There can only be one!" before running off @_@

As for me, I guess female Roegadyn! I can finally be tall....ish Smiley: cool

I'm going lalafell, I'm short but have never had a desire to be taller. Haven't decided if I'm going to start fresh or just change my mi'qote into an angry midget.

I wouldn't say I'm short...I'm 5'5-ish...Okay it's pretty short, just barely under the bar for Asians >.> And if you do become an angry little lalafell, we need to play in the same server so I can stalk follow you around....! ;p

Well, I'm 5' 6" and Asian so I understand, but it's not like I was tall then suddenly became short. Been short all my life so I'm used to it. I actually have really tall friends and it's just awesome when we go somewhere really crowded. I just look at them and say "See you on the other side." and easily worm my way through while they awkwardly push into the crowd Smiley: lol

It all depends on what looks the coolest. In 1.0 I thought Highlanders looked the best because they looked realistic. Well see when I bring my old character back to life... btw can I do that?

Can I load up a new looking character with all my old stuff?

Ahh...A shorty too :3 I suppose I'm used to being short too, but considering the last four people I've dated have all been over 6'0, including someone I'm somewhat seeing, I think I have a subconscious attraction to tallness! I don't know how you can pull off sneaking through the whole crowded scene though ;-; I'm slightly traumatized from trying to find my way out of a particularly crazy Lady Gaga concert in Canada and got elbowed, shoved and pushed around until someone gave me a bloody nose. Tis surprising how many people start clearing the way for you once blood is involved~ To this day I'm still terrified of going through crowded areas without friends nearby @_@

Imported characters will be allowed a one-time re-customization where you can change your race, name, and appearance. So yeah... go for it.

For me, I'm torn between a lalafell and a miqo'te. I played a tarutaru in FFXI for 4 years, but I got REALLY tired of not being able to see what my gear looked like. I also like the animations for the male miqo'te. May roll with one of them, not sure yet.

There is an art to it Smiley: grin My gf is 5'9" which is normal for me. When you're average height for a woman dating women as tall or taller than you are is par for the course Smiley: lol

I'm not sure myself yet. Currently i'm a mithra (will always be mithra to me) because i liked there animations as a ninja in ffxi. I also got tired of looking at my hume male with blond hair lol.

Anyway i'm undecided still on if i want to stay a mithra or change to elvaan or hume male again.

Tarutaru make up for all of their shortcomings(No pun intended!) with their adorable badassitude though! Even if their gear look funny, the sight of a Taru DK or Dragoon kicking butt makes me dance with joy..! I will always lobby for Taru/Lalafell because I just want to collect them all >.<

Teach me your ways...! I'm not too sure what the norm is for me though...Tall or short, it doesn't matter who I date, I'm relatively positive, more folks would be more confused as to what I am after a certain point xP

Not 100% sure but from pics alone it looks like Highlanders don't have any eyebrows.

Not sure about the eyebrows but if you look at the main pic of Dunesfolk lalafell on the ARR site they are downright creepy...like Village of the Damned creepy Smiley: eek

Lalafell. I was a taru in FFXI, so it's only fitting that I choose Lalafell. I was also one in 1.0.

I finally get to play in the next beta, I think, and a lot of that time will be using the Character Creator to decide.

I'll most likely going to play a Duskwight Elzen. I played an Elvaan in FFXI and I don't see myself making anything else unless I'm able to make an awesome looking Miqo'te or Hyur. I doubt I would main a Roegadyn and I'm probably going to stay away from Lalafells.
