The whole sorting people by jp/na/eu and then even further into timezones is a really troubling concept for me. I live in the United States and am a native english speaker so obviously, if asked to choose, I would pick a NA server but the times I am able to regularly log on are oftentimes non-peak hours. My schedule is erratic and sometimes I log on at 2, 3, or even 4 in the morning. Sometimes I sneak in a gaming session at 11am or play for an hour or two in the early afternoon. If everyone is segregating themselves based on the 6pm to midnight "prime time" then people like myself get the shaft unfortunately. Finding a JP party in XI or even in XIV 1.0 may have taken a bit longer but at least it was an option. I made some amazing friends in XI who were from Japan and New Zealand and some of the most successful parties i ever participated in were during off peak hours. If everyone sorts themselves like people are suggesting then our servers will be populated for 4-6 hours a night and then become ghost-towns.
I'll go ahead and throw out an inB4 "well there's always going to be exceptions to the rule and not 100% of the server will be on prime-time all of the time" because yes, there will be some JP on English servers and vice versa, there will be some east coast people on west coast servers and vice versa, but if we continue to try to separate ourselves so diligently I feel it is going to do some serious harm to the community and ostracize a decent portion of the playerbase.
