For those looking to start "fresh" on a new serverFollow

I just realized even on a new server ppl who play on day one of launch wont be surrounded by nothing but low lever players in a untouched economy because theres no character wipe in phase 4.. so during that beta Im sure ppl will hit level 50 and there will be high level player son the new servers at launch) even if you dont hit 50 lets say you hit 10 or 20.. either way there will be enough ppl that the whole server isnt running around at level 1 on day one, which would kinda ruin the "freshness" if you ask me.

Speaking of which about how many hours would one say it takes to get from level 1 to max?

I thought the level cap in the beta was level 35 unless you had a 1.0 character. Did they change this?

lvl cap will be 35 for phase 4 so everyone will be lvling alot of classes i doubt alot of ppl will have full set of 35s in a month but its possible lol

I will be doing 1-2 classes prolly conj/thm than go crazy with cooking/bot

Highest I have seen is a lvl 25 pug from this beta weekend. not sure how much they played i played prolly 16 hours and got to 16 pug and 7 mara and 10 cooking

True. 1.0 chars, if level 50, would stay level 50 for beta obviously.

Didn't realize there was going to be a cap on phase 4 also, I thought that was ending at phase 3.

It's a little disappointing that ACN won't be in for phase 4 either, but it's not like I won't be able to keep myself busy.

A lot of people aren't considering the downside of an "untouched economy" either. While the prices won't be as high because most players are still building their currency, a lot of items will not have their true "appraisal value", so to speak. A level 25 piece of gear that would be considered valuable on a new server will probably sell for twice the price, whereas on an established server the price would be closer to what it should be. The same goes for crafting mats. A new economy falls into the same gray area as an established one.

Not only that, but there's a very real possibility of it being fundamentally broken just from lack of testing. I'm sure it's being tested internally, but unless SE has a QA department the size of the all outdoors, there's no way they can poke it from enough angles.

Its only a downside if you dislike farming your own mats. Myself i will be farming my butt off and taking advantage of the economy and peopl who wanna rush to 50 to make some headway on gil.

Youre right but on the same token if you want that overpriced 2mil+ costing item which is only going for 200k on an "old" server it means it gives us newbies a chance to track said item down sell it and be one step closer to becoming the Eorzea Bill Gates, something that would be very hard to impossible to do on an old server with an already established economy and a LOT more competition of teh high level kind (and of any kind in general)

Oh, I love farming my own mats. Good stress reliever after a long day of work. I've heard a lot of people using the economy as a reason for going to a new server. Not every single person, but a lot. I'm just saying that there's more to consider.

I thought the character wipe for beta 4 meant you keep the stats but the item, gil and story progress will be wiped. If we keep everything i'm going for the teleport crystals before they "balance" the mobs in the areas.In FF11 it was 3days after expansions new jobs caps showed up on the search before Abyssea,it might be faster now

There's no wipe at all during phase 4 unless there's a "catastrophic" bug that they need to address.

Me too. I want to be one of those people setting the prices on high level items. For me, phase 3 is figuring out which DoW/DoM classes I like best, phase 4 is for crafting and gathering my behind off.

I'm curious now because I just went back and checked the roadmap, and it hasn't said anything about duration, but also looking at it again I noticed that the level cap line isn't included in phase 4.

I have looked everywhere and ic ant find the links but I have read that phase 3 will start as weekends only than go for longer. Phase 4 should be 24/7 with a lvl cap of 35. Than phase 4 shuts down for any fixes and early access starts and It should be 5-7 days than launch.

I doubt phase 4 will be longer than a week. My guesstimate is Phase 4 probably starts around Aug 10 and ends on Aug 17. Then Early access starts around Aug 22-23 and the launch on Aug 27.
