While waiting for FFXIV, try Dragon Quest X BetaFollow

Note: Dragon Quest X is a Square-Enix game, in no way am I taking business from them by posting this bit of info.

So, in case we have any Dragon Quest fans here; while you wait for the weekend to play FFXIV, perhaps you can tryout the new Dragon Quest X open Beta for the PC, which takes place all week (there's a time schedule though).

If you live in Japan, you can play online. If you live outside of Japan, you can still play the game offline. For those living in Japan, if you don't have a Japanese SE account, then you would have to create a separate one for this game.

Not sure if I can post the link to the site that explains how to navigate through the Japanese set-up, but a simple search would more than likely bring up the same site I found. Also, if you have chrome and use the "translate page" feature, then that would make navigating through the Japanese set-up much easier.

Also, I felt this was the appropriate place to leave this comment since it's for general discussions.

Edit: Here's some info on how to set it up:

Please remove the link if this is not allowed

I already checked it out and I think it's IP blocked.

Porting to PC just increased the game's chances of being localized by tenfold so I'll probably just wait for that.

Playing online with others is the only thing IP blocked I believe, for those who dare try it, you could always use a VPN if you want to play with the Japanese.

I might try the offline version later, but from what I understand, that's kind of like a demo of the game.

Dragon Quest X reminds me of Final Fantasy XI so hopefully they localize it and I can play the full thing.

I felt really shafted by not getting this one... a localization would be awesome!

It's too bad DQ never got the massive attention in the U.S. like it deserves... I'm an American through and through, but I think our culture misses the boat on A LOT of things... fashion and dragon quest being two of them Smiley: lol
