Materia IdeaFollow

What do you guys think about this idea, have materia that when melded to a weapon it would add element dmg to your attacks, have different materia for different elements.

I was thinking the materia could eather add a flat dmg to each swing based on the grade of the materia, higher the grade more dmg, or it could be a % of your dmg is turned to element dmg, as like "wind materia +3% dmg" ex (you hit a monster for 47 dmg, 3% of 47 is 14.1 so you would hit for 47 normal dmg and 14 points of wind dmg) just an idea i had, any thoughts?

3% of 47 isn't 14.1.. it's 1.41. Other than that, it's a neat idea, but since they removed elemental weaknesses/strengths from the game, I'm not sure how relevant it would be.

I think it would be interesting if they made materia do more than just a stat boost. For exemple, adding a en-spell effect (even with no elemental weakness, it would be added dmg), minor regen in armor or some form of perma-sprint on boots. Maybe even do like the FF7 and add some very rare materia that would give acess to exclusive class abilities, akin to FFXI Relic Weaponskills.

I always enjoyed this, but sadly SE is moving away from gameplay depth so stuff like this won't show up. Since as you can see with the obsolete materia now, "special effects" aren't part of the battle system anymore :\

Even my Ifrit weapons no longer are tagged with additional fire effects (and yes it's coded into the game because numerous enemies uses Enfire, Enwater, Enaero and Enthunder.)

That would be awsome, i wonder if they have ideas like thhat planed out or who knows where materia could go!
