You can get quest item drops, kill credits toward quests and hunt logs, and some XP on other people's mobs as long as you do enough damage to them. The online manual never is specific about the % needed, most likely to stave off people doing swoop ins for easy credit for a little while.

It's not so much that there is no claim as there is no hard claim. I loved it in GW2 as it tends to foster more community when people realize there's a benefit for helping people instead of just watching them die. Unless you are farming for drops, it's very beneficial to pile on the mobs to kill them quicker.

I love it as well, I hated feeling resentment toward others in FFXI just because they clicked a mob before me.

I want to say that if you are about the same level as someone else it takes about two abilities to gain EXP off of the mob. However if the person is much higher than you it becomes quite a pain to actually get credit for the kills. This can suck at times, even in FATES.

Nobody's ever heard the expression 'alone in a crowd' ? What's impossible about solo when other people are around? If I play solitaire in a crowded room, are the other people now playing it with me? The answer is yes, yes they are... because they can't mind their own damn business... I know full well the ace is supposed to go up in the damn corner... Wait... I forgot where I was going with this... In conclusion, group content and solo content can co-exist.

I love being able to help people in the open.. I can heal them put a dot or 2 up and help them quest faster while i get a little something also. Makes the game feel like a real community and when people help others its just a all around good feeling.

Same here. That feeling of here's a little cure to help ya bud. I've already seen it happening in beta, both on the receiving and giving end of run by help. I'll never be able to say "I totally non-grouped this hard NM!" again though.

When I played early FFXI and I had some free time to waste, but not enough time to get involved in a quest, I'd go to low areas and power level people I didn't know for a while or help someone beat a boss for a level break. It's a feel good thing.

I've been playing Torchlight 2 lately trying to kick my FFXI habit and I have to admit not being online with other people, even the idiots shouting nonsense, is rather boring.

However, I would like to add that it'd be nice to have "something" in an offline mode in case you are somewhere without a connection. Maybe the ability to do some crafting if you had bought the mats before hand?

Which is sad, but I'm sure there will be opportunities for similar stuff... like soloing smaller group instances or things of that nature. Plus, once the game has been out for a while and the beginning-middle areas aren't overrun with people, there might be a lot of opportunities to solo that kind of stuff off in some lesser used areas.

I'm sure as well. I was mainly just making fun of the "solo" vs "non-grouped" semantic. Smiley: laugh

See! I fixed it for you!

yup Wint its true.. and in 2015 single player games will be 90% multiplayer/ co op watch

edit: though if you wanna be technical theyre kinda doing that now but adding tacked on multiplayer to perfectly good single player games that dont even NEED it (teh last of us and uncharted games for example just to appease the CoD multiplayer crowd since thats were all the big bucks are coming from these days. I mean whats the last time a single player game sold 5mil+ units within 24 hours of its release?)So with gaming developers trying to please the biggest/current demographics in order to get more sales/players then with that very logic in about 2-4 years if things stay the same we'll be talking about how single player games are an "outdated concept these days" too wont we?

I love when people like you run by and save me when I am about to die from biting off more than I could chew!!!

I also hate when I save someone, then they just carry on with their own business without so much as a /cheer!

I always serenade anyone who helps me with /clap /cheer /dance Smiley: nod

The Last of Us and Uncharted are terrible examples of tacked on MP, both of which have amazing MP. A better example would have been Tomb Raider, which was garbage.

well while teh MP in those games ARE fine what I meant is they really didnt NEED them... they coulda sold just fine and still got high reviews without them

I don't know.. I think you are complaining about games having MORE replay value, which, to me, sounds like complaining just to complain.
