Ive come to know the game quite well now playin through a few betas.Im still not clear on questleves however. You gain 6 allowances a day? that's key to know. How do you unlock hi'r questleves? Doing lower ones, simply levelin up or earnin rep with g.company/city? Will special 1s show up if you do do them all? When should I be doing them, asap? I am thinkin of just stayin in Limsa Lominsa(MRD start) and only doing 1s for crafting/gathering located in that vicinity alongside main story line (with MRD) for 1st playthru.

Different camps will have different levels of levequests. one camp may have level 10 leves while another will have level 15 ones. you will have to go to another Camp in a higher level area to find the higher level ones. It seems like the experience points you gain from them goes down a lot if you are 5 or more levels higher than the levequest.

I do believe you get 3 allowances every 12 or so hours and they can accumulate up to at least 30. I was wondering how the system worked, but didn't realize it until this weekend. I'm not sure what the cap is on allowances yet though.

You can have up to 100 allowances. New leve locations "unlock" at every 5 levels, however, only up to level 20 or 25 (forget which) is currently supported in the beta.

I agree with this, especially after burning through 12 last night just leveling armorer 13-15. I think they need to adjust them in some way, either make them unlimited with lower rewards, or boost the XP on them in their current form.

They're ok for DoW and DoM, since you can grind dungeons or do FATE's to level up in addition to them. But as a miner or botanist, leves are almost required to level as the XP gains from gathering are very small. 6 per day will not be enough.

I have yet to try any Craft levequests. if that is the case I may have to save them specifically for crafting/gathering.

Adding to what was said about higher leves opening up as you get into that level range: At some of the camps the levemete will have a quest for you first. Basically gives you a leve to do and you get the leve completion XP along with quest completion XP. Then you're able to do regular leves at that camp.

The lev quests aren't meant to be the main way to level up a class/job. They are there for when you run out of normal quests to do and are bored from grinding the dungeons. For crafting and gathering, they probably will be the main way you level up. 6 may not be a lot, but when you miss a couple days, those 6 turns into 18. The exp they yield will be far higher than what you would get from just buying materials in the AH and then grinding recipe after recipe. Also, as a reward, you'll receive a small amount of gil and some free material to use in your grind. They actually make lvling crafts much easier. Just make sure and be choosy on which ones you pick. Make sure they are high enough to where it's worth your while and not too low to where you're getting half the exp that you could be getting from doing a harder one.

I agree with using leves on crafting/gathering as those have less side options for XP and can be grindy. Especially gathering. That was the slowest grind for me. Leve completion bonus XP was looking very nice on miner & botanist. Crafting not so much in the first 10 levels, but later on as the TNL gets bigger. Plus the ones that give more mats as a reward will help.

You really shouldn't be doing any leves in your primary class until you're pushing level 20, and even then you probably have other content available to you. I'd consider saving them for crafting leves, as the rewards for turning in HQ items are quite good comparatively. 200% xp bonus for that. I mean if you're poopsocking from minute 1 of open beta, you might be able to burn through those, but why? You'll have so many FATEs and quests to burn through. I'd personally browse through the leve list and unless you see a really good upgrade in a weak slot, I wouldn't waste the leve and save it for something else. Also keep in mind, you should have the break between Open beta and Early Start/Release to accumulate additional leves. Depending on how that works out, you could end up with quite a few leve allowances.

Yup, my limited experience made it clear that saving them for DoL/DoH is the best path.

BUT, even though the leve replenishment is too slow (for my taste), maybe an idea is to segregate the battlecraft/fieldcraft/tradecraft level replenishment. Let's say you have 8 leves/day to replenish (small boost to current rate, effectively), or 1 every 3 hours. You can allocate to which type of leve that allowance accumulates. So you might say: 4 tradecraft/3 fieldcraft/1 battlecraft. Or, to specify a 24 hour replenishment cycle, tradecraft/fieldcraft/tradecraft/battlecraft/tradecraft/fieldcraft/tradecraft/fieldcraft.

This may be overcomplicating it, but I just think that, a month after launch and our p4 -> early access accumulated allowance has depleted, 6/day won't be enough. I would be happy to trade off restricting leve allowances for an increase in the overall number. Even when you have all jobs @ 50, fieldcraft & tradecraft leves may still aware mats + gil, making them perpetually useful.

I unfortunately was busy last weekend and missed out on all the beta fun. However, from my previous experience with crafting (up to 20).

You have a few options for exp, and for leve quests, the big thing is to find the repeat leves. I believe you start running into them around 10 (so pretty much right away), and you make sure you craft enough to turn in multiple ones. They allow you to complete the leve up to 3 or 4 times before closing off the leve. Giving you a fairly healthy bonus.

Also, watch for cross-country leves (my term for the bouncing), you can get a leve in town that will take you out to the level of your leve that will have the best reward. There is then a leve out there that will give you the best reward back in town. You just go from out of town, back to town and out again. Create as many items as you want to do for the leve.

Other than that, it is crafting, just the idea of it does imply that it is repetitive, therefore "Grindy". There really is no way around this for the most part, and the higher you get the more it will be like this. This is what crafting really is, and believe it or not, there are a lot of people who enjoy this sort of play. Simple, unfocused, and cathartic.

And the higher level you get in a craft, the more grindy it will end up becoming. I can't imagine any way that the could not make it that way without destroying the economy or the functional use of crafting.
