I think I'm going to start a sub LS for those of us that plan on almost exclusively crafting at launch, or even those that plan on farming a lot to supplement their income. I figured I would post now to see if anyone is interested in this. I know that crafting can be somewhat private as it is a primary source of income, but I figure that pooling together our efforts across various crafts could prove mutually beneficial.

As for a name, I thinking of going with ZAM Craft or some form thereof.

Let me know what you guys think!

Since the ZAM LS is just a social thing anyways, wouldn't it be easier to just keep it in that? Especially since it will be basically the same people in both. Or am I not understanding correctly, would there be a good reason to have a separate LS for this? If so, I will be crafting almost exclusively in Open Beta and early access once I get my choco companion.

I think his goal is to keep crafting chatter filtered in a different channel, so to speak. 70+ people probably don't want to know that you just realized where Cotton Bolls could be farmed easily.

I'm not saying that crafters would have to use it exclusively over the main LS, quite the opposite. You can listen to more than one LS at a time can't you? If not I may rethink it then.

The main reason I had for this is that some crafters might want to be a bit more low key about their "trade secrets" and the like. Buyers are always going to want to buy cheap and sellers are always going to want to sell high. Not that I'm discouraging LS discounts or anything, it's more for the rest of the market.

Some crafters may also want to attempt to form monopolies on certain things after launch and I didn't know how open they would be to sharing such information. I figured that this may be best left to a smaller cabal of crafters that secretly may or may not perform horrid acts such as price fixing... sort of like how Global Business and Politics operate.

Of course it could just be me that thinks this way...

Or you could scratch everything that I previously said and go with what Ravashack posted. I would go with that, in fact that's what my previous post says verbatim....

I AM NOT A CROOK!

Do the free companies have a item bank or a shared retainer?

I imagine that everyone is going to be rush leveling a little and will most likely be crafting one of everything for the xp boost. It will probably better to share all that stuff since there will be a flood of it all on the markets anyways.

Loving the idea for the sub ls, but have another thing that needs to be sorted out. We need to have an idea who is going to main which crafts when the game goes live since every branch is going need some things from the others, blacksmith for example needs wood from carpenters, cloth from weavers, the occasional plate which might be an armorer exclusive, as well as glue and oils which are either alchemy or cooking, not sure which. And while this is possible to be done with one character, its going to be much more intensive in time as well as resources. So I'm hoping we can get something worked out where if one of us needs something we cannot make directly, someone else could craft it within the ls, so we wont have to try and track down another crafter or hit up the market place.

So to start the ball rolling, I plan to level Blacksmithing right off along with mining as well as a bit of dabbling in woodworking and leatherworking.

It would still be Ultros, since it is a "sub-"Linkshell.

I plan on covering everything, but depending on circumstances, I may have a lot of time on my hands, so I may not be as behind as expected. I will have to be incredibly efficient though.

Well, if you REALLY wanted to keep the name "ZAM" in there, you could go with an acronym. Zealous Artistic Maniacs?

^This. I plan to level them all if possible. I will probably focus a bit more on blacksmithing/armorer/goldsmith first, but I really plan to level all as concurrently as possible.

Back in v1 before I left (late december) we talked amongst ourselves in the ls chat about anything (crafting, farming....etc). We were always giving/trading mats to fellow crafter or if we did charge with a huge discount, farming spots on those taking up the craft we were but at a lower level (we were past it). Everyone will have their own mindset in which to make money when it comes to crafting or however they plan on making their income, people will not really tell you in depth on how they are making gil.

If we or the group decides to go with a sub ls for crafting count me in as being a contributing member of the group. Won't really touch crafting until phase 4. Played around with it a little bit on my v1 character to see what has changed from the last time I was crafting.

The whole idea sounds great but what about are v1 characters....... so much to do so little time............

Sign me up.

My plan off attack for Phase 4 was Gladiator and Lancer to cap then just grind away all DoL and DoH accept cooking and fishing.

Then keep my fingers crossed that no issues arise which require a data wipe.

I was considering weaver personally, but I do plan on getting several to cap. When I started crafting it seemed as if there were a lot of weavers already so I may consider something else first. Armorer and Goldsmith look appealing to me as well. I think that my girlfriend may end up doing alchemy and my friend seemed interested in carpentry.

I guess i gotta think that there are going to be tons of people trying them out for a few levels, but not nearly as many grinding them to cap straight away. A lot of people would probably just keep them up with their battle classes for materia use.
