Wow. If only part of that is converted into paying customers, we got a game.

For being closed beta, that's a pretty good number Smiley: nod

I think I account for 4 to 5 of those beta applications!

It's pretty average. Guild Wars 2 hit a million as well. The only numbers that matter for an MMO is subscription numbers 3 months after release.

Yea I agree but it's good to know people are giving it another chance after the disaster of 1.0. Might be one of the greatest comebacks if it ends up succeeding.

For FFXIV to get pretty average interest in its second go around is a good thing.

I'm so glad to see SE redeem themselves. Hopefully, once game launches, their new monthly subscription base will far exceed that amount.

FF XIV ARR is going to do well... It may never reach 2 million subs, but you can tell just by playing the game it's better than most any MMO out there right now, personal preferences aside.

ARR has been made with some serious quality... from graphical presentation all the way to breadth of gameplay optionality.

I personally believe there is no question this game is going to succeed, despite what the more let us say, pessimistic, members or this forum have to say.

PS3 will be the saving grace of ffxiv. That audience should give it a huge boost.

Are you kidding me?

Edit: Wait, you're Ostia... You are obviously not kidding. You're the guy who was touting the failure of this relaunch before it happened... now that it's here the game "sucks," and when it's kicking *** in 3 months you'll find something new to complain about.

COINCIDENTLY, I was able to find you logged in for about 14 consecutive hours on the Beta Sunday...

Man you must really be a ********* to keep playing the WORST MMO on the market right now. Smiley: rolleyes

Give me a break...

I have to wonder how many will subscribe the first month then quit because it's not EXACTLY like FFXI.

Being able to generate this much interest after an absolute failure is a great start.

I think it shows how much the creative team behind the game really cares about creating a great experience. If that continues well into the games life (which I think it will), then XIV2.0 has a good shot to become something really incredible.

Pretty sure that was meant as joke... how can you set personal preference aside and then give an opinion on which games you think it's better than? It's nothing but personal preference.

Personal preference not set aside, I think it's an excellent mmo and will do well. There are very few mmo's I've played that have had nearly the scope of ARR at launch, and we're not even into open beta yet (where the other 2/3 of the content will be released). And to me, I think it's got one of the most engaging and well fleshed out stories of any mmo I've ever played. I was drawn in immediately, and completely sold on it by the time I got my airship. And yes, I know some people think it's just a repeat of 1.0... but it's new to me, and I couldn't be happier with it.

Considering that you're constantly squeezing every minute you can out of every beta test out of such an "awful" MMO, you remind me of someone...

For instance, I may have a personal preference for some crappy text-based game on my TI-83 calculator, yet realize it's not even on the top 1000 games list...
An extreme example of course, a better one might be saying some WoW clone on my iPhone is the best MMO on the market... while it may be good, and I may love it, applying reasonable standards would lead to no other conclusion than the fact that it is NOT the best MMO, although it may be my personal favorite at the time being.

It was meant to relay, setting aside personal favorites, in lieu of objective measurement.

Also, consider your source... do you REALLLLLY think it was a joke?

jeez a million, 5 of those are mine all Aol and Gmail accounts even with legacy by now i know i'm not getting in before launch. Neverwinter and Rift is the 1st two i'm playing to see if they have a decent story that can hook me.If we can't make weak alts at ARR launch the 1.0 guys will burn through the storyline and achievements in a month, so looking at other games will be good till ARR.

One thing that makes me think this game will succeed, is that prior to 1.0 coming out, I had no knowledge of it whatsoever other than small tidbits of info here and there. It was only months later when I started seeing how terrible it was that I even realize it had been released.

With this, at least they have a bit more publicity going into re-launch.
