That seems pretty unlikely at this point. The two big things that could have done that have happened already.

1: The new datacenter
2: 1.0 character imports

Those two things had a real potential to cause massive problems. While they certainly didn't go flawlessly, they went well enough that we should expect things to work properly at launch.

Unlikely but still possible. There's a reason they added in that clause, it is because when it comes to working with such a massive amount of data and code a wrong digit/letter/space could completely set you back quite a bit. They also want to cover their collective asses in case there actually is a bug or error that pops up down the line. Not to mention there's still quite a bit for them to add and adjust. I'm, overall, very optimistic but there's always still that chance. Don't want people to get their hopes up too high only to be disappointed. Regardless, I hope everything goes well and as smoothly as possible. I know they've worked extremely hard and the quality shows....and we've only gotten essentially a taste of the total game.

S/N: There's so much potential that I don't want to go to waste. I'm also hoping this game grows and continues to do well mainly because this is my last go at an MMO. I enjoyed my time in FFXI, WoW, and even the small amount of time that I played RIFT, but those are over for me now. I did all I want to do in the game (FFXI) or the game isn't going in a direction I like anymore (WoW), so now this is my last stop I either love it or I'm done completely.

Smiley: laugh I'm not as negative in-game.

I've greeted people, offered my help, complimented people's characters, etc. and for the most part everyone is dead silent. It's very eerie. with instances in particular I suppose you're just like a disposable NPC to them, so people don't bother replying to you.

I'm a "niche" player. I find my mmo's and I stick to them. EQ. FFXI. EVE.

I was talked into GQ when I was a GameStop manager (before the current release). Just from my small experiences I've noticed a change. It's not FF players though. It's the genre in it current skin. When I played EQ, all players gave tank their slop drops to pay for his/her armor repair. In XI you HAD to be sociable or that much more bada$$ at your job. In EVE, well... learn from your veterans or continue to play in futility.

There is a lot less reliance on others in this game. For good or bad, that lack of reliance WILL dilute interaction. Hearing/reading all you guys and gals debate all of these kmmo's, WoW, etc. I haven't fully played... this is what it has become. "We don't have the time". That's what it is. Instead of expanding our friends list, we're following around the same friends list from game to game. Not a bad thing. Friends are friends. But MMO's have changed. A lot.

I never particularly cared for a duty-finder system. I know a lot of games use them and there are many benefits. I personally will still make my own parties a majority of the time regardless. I feel better going into a fight with people I know, have played with before, and have worked together to understand each others play-style, skill, and trust them not to lot on gear just for the heck of it.

To each their own though. For some this will be a god-send, as they may be less social, more casual, or just don't care as much about things like that.

I noticed a huge difference in a full party ZAM dungeon run compared to the duty finder pugs. It went alot smoother and quicker. Even with me having fun using fluid aura to knock away everyones' target.

I definitely see the advantages of the duty finder. I remember somebody in /shout saying they've been waiting forever to get into sastasha using duty finder. Somebody asked how long they had been waiting exactly and he said 10 minutes. I giggled.

But I also think there is, at least a slight, disadvantage to the community that comes along with the duty finder. That's why I'm glad to already be a part of a great community of people. It's been great chatting it up, asking questions, and doing many other things over the weekends with you guys and gals.

For myself, a lot of time in FFXI was wasted LFG on older content, small fry quests that people left to the wayside and events that a LS does as a group that you miss out on. I am sure duty finder will help with this.

Remember how long CoP took for players... the reason it took so long for me was because it was too damn hard to get groups to do it. Oh and Mammets, **** Mammets.

This has nothing to do with duty finder. This whole thread is really about no general chat.

I haven't made any connections in the game. I haven't befriended anyone, but mostly its because everything will be wiped out and perhaps names will also change.

I have blacklisted on person who kept using the 'poke' emote more than a dozen times on another female
character. It just crossed a line. Also, I shut off 'shout' because one area I was in gamers were arguing about female players and it got very heated and distracting for me.

Yeah, I tend to turn off global/zone chat in starter zones just because all the trolling and ****-waving gets old.

Welcome Back S.A.

I missed this weekend due to having a trip out east. Something about being treated a lobster/oyster dinner at a near-200 year old restaurant complete with paid hotel and parking kinda prioritized itself over beta testing.

No, that would be my dad.

He's the one that makes an advanced reservation to the restaurant, then proceeds to walk-in three hours early to the dinner, and cancels his reservation on his way out.
Or cooks delectably moist Thanksgiving turkey in a charcoal grill.
Or takes his 2 kids out on a 10 day tour of 5 different European countries - on his frequent flyer miles.

I'm just the lucky freeloader that gets to experience the result of it all.

I know I am not being as social in this game, mostly because I know the character is going to be deleted(and I made a very silly named character because of that), and the people I talk to, most seems like they are going to different servers after beta.

Keep in mind the duty finder was made for people who have trouble finding groups. Yes it would be good to do it within your server to help, build, relationships but if you log in, want a 30min run, finding anyone who wants to do it, regardless of server, is the way to go. Yoshi even said it wasn't intended for socializing, he wanted it to be a means to an end. Breaking the FFXI cycle of /sh Do you need it, /wait 60min, Mover out, only to lose one guy. We don't have time for that, 10years later. He even said, what if you are on night shift and no one is on or wants to play in your server, searching the other servers will yield something. I see the problem but at the same time, I can log in with the intention of playing 45min and be able to do one run, no problem. I like that, FFXI I felt like I wasted so much time and it always made me so sad. As much as I liked watching shouts and people say crazy stuff... I would have rather spent my time farming and not waiting for a party that never developed.

I agree with your point wholeheartedly. The FFXI cycle of /sh Do you need it, /wait 60min, Move out, only to lose one guy, or Azrael3421 had to go to the restroom was the reason I couldn't complete the Promyvions and get sea access in FFXI for nearly 6 months. I lost love for FFXI right there. I love duty finder. And for those who want to do it the old fashioned way, I suppose you could still form a party with your friends or shout to the masses, then walk to the dungeon. Just don't get mad when your healer gets lost on the way there.
