I'm not sure if you're trolling by saying you haven't been a jerk or if I should be concerned that you really think that's why you get rated down as much as you do.

And will counter will "Learn to read" since i never claimed i have never been a jerk, i actually said, there are plenty of post i have made, that have nothing to do with being a jerk. That is an interesting concern. I am more concerned that PvP will be a distraction to the development of PvE content (Endgame and Expansions). I see why this debate is a permanent part of MMORPG's.

Ideally the game becomes hugely successful, and both PvP and PvE get years and years of Dev time.

Rest your pretty little heads. This is mainly a PvE company making a PvE game with some PvP elements.
The great part about PvP, is other than balancing. It is the type of content that after it gets built, it requires less work to maintain. Where as in PvE they have to constantly write new stories, build cinematics, build voiceovers, etc.

I think PvP, if done well, would be a huge boost to the game and well worth the effort. There's nothing quite like it to extend the re-playability of a game since fighting intelligent opponents is a lot more exciting than working out victory against a pre-programmed mob that follows a predictable pattern. It's a crucible for creative strategies and character builds, and it practically becomes a whole extra game.

As long as it doesn't cut into the realm of PvE and there's no indication it will, I think this will be a welcome addition to FFXIV.
