Very well said. I feel like, as a foundation (or Vanilla, if you will) you can't ask for a whole lot more. Things like battle targeting WILL get remedied, but it's definitely not perfect. That being said, I feel like the people who worked on this gave me meat AND potatoes at launch. With MMORPGS, you almost HAVE to expect that the first expansion is that awkward part of the meal where the waiter realizes they goofed up and didn't bring out your appetizer. The trick is, the steak and potatoes have to be so good, that the waiter's blunder still leaves you with a smile.. That it adds 'character' to your dinner experience rather than "spoil the date" as it were.
It's a healthy dose of Final Fantasy and the MMO aspects are rich creamy gravy. There's also so much more of the world hinted at, even in the main quest line that you know SEs plans for this in the long-term are enormous. That has me excited! I like how much I am surprised by it, if that makes sense.
