A 2nd Nico Nico Impression
July 15, 2013

Greetings, everyone!
Community manager Bayohne here, reporting for blog duty.

Over the weekend, Yoshi-P made his second appearance on Nico Nico to show off a Realm Reborn and brought along some goodies.

To kick things off, he revealed a brand new video, “Eorzea Collection 2013,” that showcases a wide variety of characters and outfits that you’ll encounter in the realm. Keep an eye out for some new surprises in the video, too! (I wonder if people noticed the [redacted] and [redacted]?)

The swanky set up over at the Nico Nico studio.

Next up, Yoshida demonstrated the soon-to-be-released character creation benchmark software on the Microsoft Surface Pro. The new benchmark, scheduled for release on August 1st, will allow you to save your character appearance data and easily import it into the release version. (I know I’ll be spending a few hours getting my character juuuuust right. And then scrapping it and starting over…)

The team formed a 4-person party and tackled Ifrit and Brayflox’s Longstop using the duty finder. Yoshi-P was assigned the healer role, in part to ensure the team made short work of both. (I’m sure he did fine!)

The stream also held a contest between the hosts to see who could design the prettiest girl they could, with users then voting to decide the winner. (Of course, Yoshida’s Lalafell won...)

Slowing things down a bit, the hosts invited beta testers to gather in Thanalan to explore the landscape while on chocoback!

With that, the show came to a close. But never fear, for your next opportunity to see Yoshida live will be the next Letter from the Producer LIVE Part VIII scheduled for August 8th!

See you on the forums!

Think that character benchmark will be available on PS3?

I don't see why not. Our current character appearances are still saved on the system. Makes sense for us to be able to tweak them before open beta.

It's a question mostly because if it's stlll a benchmark software it's testing system specs and the PS3 doesn't exactly need spec testing by players, since outside of modding your system, every PS3 is the same lol.

So does him playing that on a Microsoft Surface mean that this game will be coming to tablets? Smiley: jester

I can see it now... we can't do X because of tablet limitations. Smiley: tongue

I really want to know what class/job was being displayed at 0:41! That looks to be some kind of musketeer or fencer, but I can't tell because I'm streaming a lq video on my phone. The musketeer guild in LL shows crossed guns, and the character I'm referencing appears to have swords, but it's hard to tell. I just think the gear makes her look like a pirate, and I love it!

Even on a computer, I can't really tell. The weapon at her waist definitely looks like a sword, but the thing on her back definitely doesn't look like a shield. She's wearing a gunpowder horn so maybe the thing on her back is a gun. It could very well be a musketeer.

I didn't even notice the horn. Good eye!

I'm right there with you!

After creating 10+ characters to get it just right I will, most likely, still create a fresh one on opening day. That character creation screen is addictively well done, and you get to listen to the awesome crystal theme the whole time!

It's a gladiator. She's wearing what looks like a steel longsword from 1.0 and has a bladed lantern shield on her back.

Boo, you shattered my hopes and dreams. That makes sense, though. It would be pretty odd for them to sneak musketeer into some random fashion video when we haven't heard much about it.
