no there id no "8 months' of content the game is just lacking in content...

Games aren't made to play all day every day and keep you entertained forever. It's great that you had nothing else to do, but for your average player all day everyday for 2 months is roughly equivalent to 8 months of gameplay. They don't play as often so they don't burn out as fast.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

so then please do explain how it is that i played FFXI just as much as i played DCUO and NEVER ran out of stuff to do nor did I EVER do EVERYTHING there was to do? clearly THAT game WAS made to be played forever.. also I said it takes 8 hours to reach max level in DCUO.. umm even if you dont play all day everyday 8 hours to hit cap in an mmo is bad.. i mean single player games can get beaten in that time (o less)

You don't need an explanation from me. It takes a few hours to cap a job in DCUO whereas it takes months to cap in XI. Obvious answer is obvious.

Funny thing about that is, I knew 8 hours into leveling a job in FFXI that it would be just as boring for the next 8 months it took me to finally reach the cap. FFXI players who capped multiple jobs under the original leveling scheme prior to experience points to level being reduced, level sync, field and grounds books, ect. did so because they liked the punishment, not because they liked the content. Nothing about going from one camp of crabs to the next is fresh or exciting. People just wanted to make it to cap with the hope that they'd be rewarded for all their time with a healthy dose of something fun to do.

exactly. who says thats NOT the case? the only reason I did it was not because I loved avoiding crawler trains in CNest every 5 mins an standing in dragons aery killing crap for hours. But because there were other things i WANTED to do that required leveling first so leveling was just a means to an end... like i liked teh story and wanted to see where it went.. well fighting shadowlord was level 60 so I had to get that far.. Dynamis looked fun and i had to be 65 for that so I did it.Ark Angels fight sounded fun so I hit 75 for that, etc etc.. if the game had no story and was just ALL grind (i.e everquest 1) i wouldnt have spent a full month playing the game let alone teh 5+ years i spent
