I hear lime and salt popcorn is REALLY good.

Someone described it to me as margarita flavored popcorn.

Hah, don't actually buy it off of there. I've seen it in the local supermarkets for significantly cheaper (assuming they stock it for you).

From what ive seen in beta, I think cap will take about a few days or a week for hardcore players and about 1-2 months for very casual players.

When the more difficult dungeons are introduced at mid game I think those casuals, especially grouped with the DF might have a tougher time getting through that content.

So the main part of the game would seem to take place in the late 30s and 40s.

----

Also I don't know what other MMOs the op played or heard but I hit the cap playing Rift and GW2 from about 1-2 months.

So in the end I think that 2.0 will be about the same time-wise.

But I will personally take my time and enjoy the world, maybe start crafting or just mine for a while instead of rushing to cap.

I have heard that the game is too easy. That in just a few hours you can level to 20, and that getting to 50 isn't nearly the challenge it is in other MMOs.
Your opinion?
Is it too easy? Will it hold interest over time or will we be forced to level every class just to stay busy?

Yeah, it's pretty easy, but the majority of us here are MMO veterans. For anyone that is new MMOs or XIV's style of play, this game is pretty challenging.

Yoshi-P has already stated that the road to 50 is pretty much a joyride. It's not supposed to be difficult, and endgame is where the real meat difficulty happens.

Now whether or not Yoshi-P is underestimating just how dedicated MMO veterans are, we'll just have to see. But I don't mind, nor do I really care, if getting to 50 is a cakewalk. What I really care about is if endgame is fun and fulfilling enough to keep me around. Remember, we have Legacy Players that already have their classes to 50, so Square is already in a position where they can't use the leveling curve to stall.

First... It is fun reading two threads in one. Thanks for the entertainment.
Second... Some great responses. I just ordered my copy. Thanks for building anticipation for a great game.
Third... By FAR the most exciting thing for me in this thread has been how many people got involved. I have beed reading these forums for a while now and it is thrilling to see people logging on and getting involved. The long wait is nearly over!

It takes more than "a few" hours, but it doesn't take any longer than your usual MMO. I wouldn't lump that in with easy or difficult though. Sitting in the dunes and fighting crabs>pugils>goblins to hit 20 wasn't hard either. The true lack of challenge so far for many was in the dungeons. They're very plain and easy to complete without any real thinking or team work.

As far as keeping interest, the game has a lot to offer so far. There are many crafts, 3 cities with full story lines, missions, hunting logs, open "FATE" battles (like Rifts in Rift), and places to hang out with folks and play the market. I don't see myself getting bored along the way at all.

The game needs some work, but it's actually very good so far.

Well other than FFXI I wouldn't consider getting to max Level a challenge in any other modern MMO.

I don't even know how some one could answer such a question objectively. Whether or not it is too easy depends largely on your own level of skill and how much challenge you expect in the early stages of an MMO. I would say that the first 20 levels or so are essentially an extended tutorial, and aren't meant to be challenging except to very casual or first time mmo players.

After that, hitting max level is mostly a matter of being focused and investing time, the same as any other level based mmo I have ever played.

End game/max level content isn't available yet, so no one realistically knows how difficult the game eventually is or isn't.

I can tell you that every person I talked to in beta was enjoying the game a lot, and most of them were mmo veterans.

At first I thought it was too easy to level, but once you start going after your 3rd or 4th job skill and the quests start to run dry, or you end up doing the same guildleves over and over, it does get a bit stale - but this is Beta, and all things considered I am very happy with the game. As it is, grinding seems very unrewarding from an EXP standpoint which is atypical of the FF series, but that's incentive to do more FATEs and quests so I can see why they did it. It seems that any level foe will give you about the same EXP as any other of the same level, and it would be nice to find that occaisonal battle that rewards you well with EXP. In general I think level capping is lame unless it's difficult to reach the level.
