So the registration for early access seems to be working already at the following link:
Go to : http://na.square-enix.com/
Log in to your account
Go into "My Profile"
Go to: "Add new game"
Enter your code from your receipt. There are two different formats.
However, I entered both my codes I was give by EB Games (Gamestop) and when I hit "Check Code" it came up saying it was FFXIV:ARR (PC).
Does anyone know if the Early Access codes are universal to either PC or PS3? I'm on PS3 and so I refrained from fully registering my code as we don't even have a PC capable of playing ARR. Or has someone tried their PS3 code and comes up saying it's PS3 version?

I'm curious to know what to do also... i have two codes for pre-ordering two PS3 Collector's Editions... the guy at Gamestop gave me the codes last night when I paid off the remaining balance...

But when I went there it did not give me a place to even enter the codes... just a place to enter my email address.

I tried it and it's also saying PC. Because this is cross-platform, there may not be an issue. I wouldn't register it just now in case this is an error. I'd rather wait until I actually get the email with the instructions.

Yeah, they'll send out an email with instructions on how to do this. The link in the OP's post is presumably where we're supposed to go when we get said email.

That is the place where you enter your e-mail, and SE will e-mail you back when it is time to go enter your code and download an early access client, as I understand it. Then on release date you pick up the actual disc, and supposedly your character should transfer.

They didn't give the codes to you till you paid it off? I got mine when I put the first $5 down at the start of Beta phase 3. Oh, and yes, just a place to enter my email with a message saying that they will notify me when I can use my code.
Edit: mine was for the PS3 standard version.

I just happened to be there paying off the balance... it wasn't a pre-requisite to do so in order to get the codes... I just happened to need them printed too while I was there.

When I got my reservation, the early access codes for my store were already gone. The gamestop guy did me a solid and called the store over and got me a code. I rated him up on their online survey. Now they need to give me $100 gift certificate.
