I'm wondering if anyone knows or has heard anything about what the dev team plans to do with the existing dungeons? I vaguely remember something about making them available with higher difficulty, but I'd really like to see them opened up for some sort of questing, gathering, or FATEs. What I've seen of the open world is beautiful, and I've thoroughly enjoyed the dungeon runs I've participated in thus far. With that said, I kind of miss the feel of wandering through a dungeon alone.

I've been in the minority many, many times before though. Does anyone else want something like this?

i think it would be ok if it was setup where you could do it solo... but i think it should have to take a good amount of skill so that your not getting all that gear without some good put in work...

I certainly think allowing players to solo or duo the dungeons could be a really cool way to reuse them. You could even change to a content appropriate boss and call it a Grand Company Mark or Bounty or something. That way there's some incentive to do the dungeon outside of gear.

What I really had in mind though, was content that would open up the dungeon for exploration rather than simply running it again with a different number of people. Maybe an open world version of the zone that becomes accessible after you've cleared the dungeon?

There are going to be Hard Modes of the dungeons once you've hit 50. I'm not sure if it's all of them, but some for sure.

The hard modes will be different than the reg versions. Like different part of the zone diff bosses and mobs

A good example of this is shown on the benchmark. We have played Tam Tara Deepcroft in the beta version of the game and the dungeon end boss is the squid faced dude. In the benchmark version, the end boss is squiddy with his mates (including the big F. Off dragon).

I rather suspect the dungeon on "normal" is what we have played. The dungeon in hard mode is an 8 man encounter (as per the benchmark) ending with a fight against the three bosses.

We have a fairly lengthy article up at EorzeaReborn that deals with the end-game (on page 3). We had access to a few folks from SE that verified our information.

Clearly, there is more info here then just about the dungeons, but if you skip to page 3 you can find more info on what we were told was going to happen. Final Fantasy XIV Game Systems

Different from the benchmark, however, we were told the Hardmode version of the current lower dungeons are actually 4-man, and the 8-man content are the level 50 dungeons from 1.0. (which are likely spelled incorrectly at our site, however that was how our SE contacts spelled it, so we're leaving it that way, for now).
