I think that you will enter your pre-registration code and get access to download a beta-type client to play early access. Then when the physical copy of the game arrives you will be able to seamlessly access your character when loading the physical disc.

Did they expand on this any? Because the way it is worded it actually sounds like people will be able to buy gear from content they are not yet good enough to beat? Or am I misinterpreting it?

Sound like a FtP gear buying model within a PtP game. That can't be right. I hope it's not right.

How does it sound remotely like that?

edit: i think i see where you misunderstood. The tokens come from participating in the content. you don't buy them with real world money.

So is Bahamut only an 8 man raid? Not that I have a big problem with endgame stuff being mainly 8 man, but it feels weird that the 8 man stuff is harder than the 24 man raid.

Sort of. Their countermeasures against RMT amount to crippling people who enjoy playing alts. That's not even really a barrier to RMT, and it's one of the items in that live letter that concern me a bit.

Do you have some kind of source on this? The live letter seemed like Yoshi was implying that they had other means of catching RMT that they couldn't divulge publicly for fear of RMT finding workarounds. Doesn't seem like it fits your description, but I could be wrong.

And I agree that we won't know the impact until release, but I know that when I leveled culinarian, there weren't that many recipes that required fish (a couple by level 15).

Just the translation above..
Quote:
-Same server, same account, transferring items: no plans, don't want RMT to use, so the devs will look at the situation before deciding. It's possible to include this but they want to be careful.
Quote:
-Shared retainers between characters on same account won't be implemented. Yoshi doesn't want relics rotating around for other characters.

Yeah, near the beginning of the live letter when talking about fishing, Yoshi made specific comments about them being able to combat RMT fishers and that they wouldn't divulge it, so I'm guessing they have other tricks up their sleeves.

There you go. I thought for a very brief second that a reason for combatting RMTs is so that SE could sell you the armor for $5. Then I realized that the developers are way too cool to do something like that.

One of the hardest battles I fought in FFXI was a 3 man level cap fight against two higher level lizards for some dex+agility boots.

I LOVE 99% of what is coming. I'm very excited, really.

Here's the 1% But, but, I'm not happy about World transfers coming just 2-3 weeks after the game starts.
Yes, there will be limitations as to the gil and items that can be brought with the transfer, however, if, if its Legacy characters that can transfer, I just see the game being dominated by veterans and that disappoints me, because I don't think I can measure up to them EVER. It will be hard since they will have reached end game before new players. So, new gear, craft items, AH etc. will be dominated by them.

If, this doesn't apply to Legacy servers, then nevermind... All new server transfers welcomed!

I hope it does include legacy. Im only level 24 on my highest class with only 30k in gil. Yet Im stuck on a legacy server with all 50s. I want to go to Leviathen since its its the unofficial pvp server and Ill find a regular economy.

They cannot transfer to new servers, only other legacy ones...

Transfer rules (set by SE)
There are 2 simple rules to remember when deciding on a server:
› 1.0 players can only transfer between Legacy Servers.
› New players can join both Legacy and New servers.

Thanks Atkascha!

I was stuck in the middle of nowhere for work today. I couldn't stand to wait even one minute longer then I needed to without knowing when P4 starts!

Thanks to your awesome thread and reporting I was able to have my wife recite all the info to me over the phone at lunch.

You rock.

I actually really like this idea. How many of us fought for years to get the kitty pants, or Ridill, or god knows what else? Completing the content but not getting our gear due to horrible drop rates or crooked LS leaders having a priority system instead of a seniority system. So earning tokens will put you in the right direction for that. I am hoping the drop rates won't be so bad but...........

I was a little taken back about the idea of someone being horrible at the job and still being able to earn the gear, even though they don't deserve it. But I am trusting the YoshiP has thought of this and has it where the tokens don't add up to much. And really, how bad does someone have to be to not complete most content? Or maybe have some way to denote that the gear was "bought" and not "earned" so to speak?

I've updated the OP with some more clarification on the Veteran Rewards program, and an article that has tons of screencaps and a recording of the letter.

What are the benefits to you starting in Legacy? Is it because of the free access and lower subscription? I could understand that if it were the reason. Otherwise, Join Leviathen now and set down roots.

Cheers!

The 3 summons confirmed right now are if fit, Garuda, and Titan. I haven't heard anything about a 4th summon. Yoshi did say when asked if there would be any others and he said that they would include more when they increase the level cap from 50.

I saw that, but I could have sworn a few months back there was suppose to be 4 to start....I'm gonna have to try and go back and research stuff. But when they said something in the 8th video about secret summoner stuff...figured that would be it.

In that video they state that there would be four summons. So we are missing one! ^_^
