Greetings,

The pre-order codes that are being distributed for North America and Europe include instructions that they will be redeemed via a special website:
NA: http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com
EU: http://preorder.eu.finalfantasyxiv.com

This special site is not yet live for users to redeem the codes received from their retailer.
Once the code redemption for this site is live, scheduled for August 20, 2013, you will be able to enter the code you received that looks like: ABCDEF-###-ABCDEF-###

That will then give you all the instructions required to register your early access code.

In short, hang tight guys and don't panic!

Thanks so much for posting this!

I have been going crazy wondering why I only have an 18 digit code and not a 20 digit one...

OK, so we input the 18 digit code for instructions on how to input the EA code which is the 20 digit code that we (or atleast I) didn't get? That makes no sense to me and I hope I am just misunderstanding this post. The wording makes it sound like we need both the 18 and the 20 digit codes and I know I only got the 18.

Edit: Made the parts of this post that made me think that we need 2 codes stand out a bit more. It's all in the wording.

I only got one code as well. My understanding is that is all we will need for early access. Now all they need to do is post some specifics on exactly how PS3 early access will be conducted without a physical copy of the disc. So far to my knowledge it is only speculation.

My concern though, is that since it says that we will have to enter our code (18 digits) on the website provided and then it says "That will then" give us instructions on how to register our code. My experiance in the past has been that the first time you use a code it is used up. Does this mean at that time we will be givin a second code? Or will we just reuse the one we have? The language used is what has me confused.

Glad I have absolutely nothing else on my 160 GB drive. And everyone downloading at the same time... Watch, its gonna be like when I first downloaded FFXI to my XBOX and it took 7 hours... Glad early access is on a Saturday so at least I can play Saturday night and Sunday before work on Monday.

Yeah the DL on the 24th is going to be a bloody nightmare. Flashbacks of XI updates you started before you went to bed that were maybe done when you woke up.

Thinking about it...if it's like beta and starts on the 24th JP time, more than likely you will be in bed when the DL goes live. Set an alarm, get up, start the DL and go back to bed. When you wake up and there's some progress you won't feel like putting your fist through the wall.

Just a guess but by inputing the 18 digit code it could be doing some sort of verifcation that the order associated with that code has not been cancelled or something along those lines if it is even possible. If it checks out you get instructions plus another code?

I only say this because I have 3 codes and only 1 of them is still on an active order. It be interesting if all 3 codes worked to give me early access and items.

So my Gamestop pre-order number(18char) that I used to go online and register my email for in July is the email that will give me all the codes for my PS3?

No its the preorder code, they cant check it out until launch when companies like amazon actually charge and ship. So, there is no verification of whether order is active which is a good thing imho .

until you realize that you didn't disable the command to take you offline after you've been idle for 20 minutes, like the XI downloader.

Hey everyone,

Just pre-ordered and gotten the e-mail from Amazon with the 18 digit code pre-order bonus code. I understand that this code will be used when the launch date draw closer but right now I am wondering if I should register it into my Square Enix account. Does it matter?

What do you guys think?

/sigh

I really wish people would bother to actually read sometimes.

No, you can't register the game currently. Registering it on na.square-enix.com (aka the SE Store/SE Membership site) does absolutely nothing. It's a profile site, nothing more.

I only hope they start sending the PS3 client very soon , beta will start this Friday and the amount of people downloading will be massive. SE needs to be quick.

Hope so because unless SE is running some crazy servers from the future, they are going to be swamped with traffic which will grind things to a trickle.

Has anyone who pre-ordered through the SE website gotten their code yet? I pre-ordered the PC CE and have not received anything.

Those who ordered through Amazon and other retailers have generally received theirs by now. It's ironic that S-E is lagging behind with this. I know a few others who have ordered from S-E's website and haven't gotten another email yet with the code.

By received do you mean the confirmation e-mail that your purchase is successful or just the pre-order bonus 18 digit code? Because I pre-ordered via SE store and they didn't send me a single e-mail, not even an e-mail that tells me that I have successfully pre-order the game.

In the end I just went to Amazon and get another copy, since I wouldn't mind having two PC CE at all anymore.

I meant any sort of registration code. Like shieldofchaos said, buying from the SE store didn't generate any sort of email, only a pop up message that you would receive one at a later date. I just don't want to miss out on anything ^^

It's in the confirmation/receipt email after you purchase. Mine came from webhelp.v4@digitalriver.com

I got the PS3 CE from there
