Sorry, what I meant to say was I knew about fraps, I even used the free version of it for a day. I wanted to know if that is still the most used recording software for gamers still or if there was a better software for recording for YouTube. The thread's purpose was to ask what people of this forum use for recording in particular.
No apology necessary. Fraps is still popular, but mostly because it's been around for so long. There are better options with more features for the same price or lower(some of them free), but it depends on what else you would use the software for, what features you like and how well your hardware can handle recording.

I don't believe in asking Google and trusting the first result, I wanted people's opinions and discussion.
You didn't just read the first response and stop there, did you? Why would you do the same for a search result?

What do I need to start recording?
Do you want software or hardware? Recording just on PC or would you like to record console gaming as well? Do you want something you can use to stream video? Some of the programs are resource hogs... what kind of specs are you running at for PC? What is your budget?
Reading or viewing those first few results would have led you to what you need to start recording: more information. It's not too late
