Still playable on Windows XP?Follow

I got "High" when i ran the benchmark on standard with 1440x900 res and fairly high on high setting at that res (with windows XP) which is why im guessing it will work with XP, i just dont want to buy it and find out i cant even install it, so im hoping someone can come shed some light on the matter.

Thank you for your continued support of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

With the announcement that Microsoft(R) will no longer be supporting Windows XP from April 9th, 2014, we regret to inform you that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will no longer be able to guarantee support for Windows XP after the Beta Test Phase 3, which is planned to start early June.

Due to the fact that Microsoft(R) has already completed the support life cycle of this product, we have found that continuing support for this OS is a difficult proposition. We have instead decided to put more focus on support for Windows 8, and we hope everyone will understand.

Although support for Windows XP will no longer be guaranteed after the Beta Test Phase 3, our development team will still build from the existing platform. This does not mean that our users will no longer be able to play using Windows XP, and current users will still be able to play using Windows XP.

We will do our best to have compatibility with our Software Updates from this point forward, but there will be instances where we won't be able to guarantee support due to Windows XP issues.

It will play on XP but for how long and how well, time will tell.

You might want to consider upgrading to Windows 7 eventually. I can understand why a lot of people didn't go to Vista (because it was garbage), but Windows 7 is definitely an upgrade of XP. I probably won't be upgrading to Windows 8 though, as it looks terrible, and I've heard the same.

Windows 7 is the XP of this generation. It won't be losing support any time soon, either.

I'll buy a new computer before I just buy windows 7 for my existing machine. This thing is really old and all I've really upgraded is the video card (currently using a Radeon HD 6670) but my processor is really old, probably one of the oldest quad cores (Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.40 GHz) and I think I only have about 2GB of RAM. I'm just astounded that on the benchmark I got "High" performance with 1440x900 res on standard graphics and fairly high with high graphics. I'm sure my framerate wont be that great though with a bunch of people on the screen, it already drops to about 20-30 in heavily congested areas in WoW on standard settings, and this game will definitely be more taxing.

People aren't referring to Win 8 stability like Vista here Wint, but how unfriendly and complicated it can be for people. The interface simply sucks. That's why they're adding 8.1 with the start button back. On a positive note, Win 8 installs faster than any windows OS I have installed since XP. That was a strange surprise for me.
