May seem like a rather obvious question, I came from being a full time whm in ffxi, should I try to immediately get to the point where I can unlock whm and stick with it? Or should I try alternate hybrid healers like sch or conjurer, note I have no interest in anything other than debuffing and keeping team mates in tip top shape

Yes, I recommend starting in Gridania as a Conjurer. Keep in mind that there are some cross-class abilities that will be useful to you as CNJ, such as Surecast from Thaumaturge. The subclasses for WHM are supposed to be Arcanist and Thaumaturge. Level those to 15 at the very least if either one is required to unlock the WHM job quest. I also plan on being a WHM main. No real interest in SCH. You may want to consider SCH as a secondary job in case you want to change your playstyle while still fulfilling the same role.

WHM isn't the same as FFXI. You level CNJ to lv 30 and unlock WHM. The WHM job only has about 5 abilities and the rest are CNJ. So WHM and CNJ are one of the same. Arcanist unlocks SCH which looks awesome in my book. You have fairy pets that help you heal on SCH. Arcanist is a Warlock class, much like RDM's magical side from FFXI.

WHM is a job that comes from CNJ (a base class). In general, base classes are more flexible and better suited to soloing while jobs are more focused and better suited to group play.

Think of WHM being like a special "mode" for playing CNJ. They will level together (i.e. you don't have to level them separately). So it's probably less of a question of "should I split time between WHM and CNJ" and more of a question of "when should I play CNJ and when should I play WHM".
