I'm still unable to log in 3.5hrs later, I can't get past the gray <START> and it goes to this:

And that's it. I don't know where to go to help, I put I request with SE, but god knows when I'll hear back, I don't even know where to go since the official forums was shut down.

I got the same thing this morning...I just kept logging off/on and it worked. It's their rolling start to avoid crashing servers. It sucks but I don't think you're going to get a response to your ticket, just keep trying...Sorry
It's congestion, it happens at the start of every beta. So many people logging in at once is blowing up the login servers. Once you're actually playing the game you don't encounter the problems.
I logged in at the gun and only had one minor hiccup when I first started. Immediately tried again and got in.

I've never made it past <start> yet, and it's almost 4hrs later, I'm talking to my whole LS on Vent and they've been in for hours, I don't think this is normal???

It is 100 % normal. This happens at the start of every mmo. For some reason they 'never anticipated this ammount of traffic'.
