Will 3102 and 90000 warrant a wipe?Follow

Let me start out by saying it sux for those who weren't able to fully enjoy the beta due to these bugs and you have the right to be frustrated because of them. With that out of the way I see a game breaking bug something that gives an unfair advantage like a glitch that gives dumb amounts of xp for something easy or a loophole buying/vendoring thing that allows people to make a bunch of money easily. Going by this definition there no game breaking bugs (that I was aware of anyways) that would warrant a progress wipe. But I kind of worry about the errors so many people were plagued with. Do you guys think progress will carry over or be wiped? Will the vocal minority's frustration pressure SE to reset things because they didn't get to play as much as some others or will they stick with the theory that there were no bugs and proceed as planned?

Honestly theres no telling with SE but i doubt they will, some players were able to get far even with the errors so i dont think they would wipe chars

I don't believe so. SE mentioned that they'd only do a wipe if they discovered some form of gamebreaking bug or something of the like. The errors were just an unfortunate occurrence for group of players. I don't think that falls under the category of "gamebreaking".

Some people missed out, but the game worked fine for the majority. I'd be surprised if they wiped the servers on account of the errors.

No, it won't cause a wipe.

They were already in the process of releasing characters from limbo, so it doesn't seem a wipe is warranted.

I personally don't see a wipe with the errors that were floating around. I ran into both of them and was able to get back online almost immediately or within 5 minutes. If they decide to do a wipe thats their call. This was the last beta phase before early release and full release and I went into it as though the data was being wiped, hence just hit 20 about a hr before we got the boot. Everything I did in this phase I could get back in 1 day playing. Others it would take more being they leveled up quite a bit.

I think legacy characters have a bug with instances. I made a new character and all of a sudden my error 90k problems are solved. When I log back in with my legacy character I get kicked off the server.

I think we'd only see a wipe if something like an exp exploit was found and abused or something similar.

If you were able to log back in, you didn't encounter the real error.

Hope a wipe is not warranted. I don't know why but outside of a few "server full" messages and a lag and d/c outside of copperbell mines once, I did not notice many problems with the game. I accomplished in 2 1/2 days what it took me a month and a half to do in FFXI. I really enjoyed my experience. Overall good situation.

Server issues wouldn't necessitate a data wipe.

Sure it could.. It could lead to corrupted data. I dont think it will because they were able to do a recovery and get most everyone back. Problem with a recovery is they recovered the info they did not fix the problem, the original problem is still there.

Well don't have to worry about that now. I just wonder if 3102 is really gone or is it going to resurface in EA...
#13REDACTED, Posted: Aug 19 2013 at 9:28 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i wasnt able to get back on the whole weekend and because im a ******* i want a full wipe. mostly because i have no want to play now that my friends i was going to play and level with have 3 lvl 20s and are ready to get their jobs and i have to still try to get one class leveled never mind the subs. so as of the moment i lost any ambition to actually play the game which is unfortunate side effect of having to sit and quell the urge to play when i couldnt because of an error on SE end.

It doesn't seem to have corrupted data. I agree that there's a possibility they didn't fix the original problem... which would be unbelievably stupid considering what it did.

They're not going to "wipe" everyone just because a few players cant play with their characters.

Worst, and i mean absolute worst, scenario is that those people will end up having to recreate their characters. Not that that is going to happen, but that's the worst scenario. There's no reason anyone else should lose their characters, you know... :/

Even SE is not using the word a few.

I seriously hope not, I don't fancy the idea of levelling mining and botany a *third* time. D: (which is what I did during my 90000)
Though it might give me a chance to change my name to Selphie Steam \o\

I really really hope they dont do this, but the lack of any official answer on the matter worries me.

I'm really pleased with my progress and having to do it again really makes me feel I don't want to play, at least not in the short run (Early Access).

I dont believe it deserves a wipe.. But I think if they did wipe the characters it would be fair to level the playing field for the real launch. But im fine either way.. Though not being able to play all sunday sucked for me.. dang 3102 error

I doubt they will wipe, but if they do, they do. It was only 1 weekends worth of time, it's not the end of the world if I have to do it over. Besides, I could be even MORE efficient with another stab at it. Not saying I want a wipe, just that I won't be all that mad if they do.

No.

I was one of the 3102 people locked out of the game most of the weekend.

When I was able to get back in finally this morning, I resumed exactly where I left off. There was no character corruption.

I can agree with this. 3102 and 90000 are simply messages. I can understand people referring to the error numbers to explain because it gives an easy frame of reference, but just because you are getting them does not mean it is the exact same cause affecting you each time. When my ISP hiccuped on me in the middle of the beta extension and kicked me off, I received a 3102 as well, but was able to get back on after a couple minutes since what I was doing (fervently leveling Weaver) was definitely not the same thing as the 3102 result that kept me off line for much longer (zoning into Ul'dah).

A 3 day head start over others because they couldn't log in during Beta isn't much different than a 3 day head start because you got early access but someone else didn't. I don't see the issues with Phase 4 being enough to warrant a full wipe.

They specifically stated that a wipe would happen if a glitch was found that allowed people to gain enormous amounts of gil, or some other exploit.

Not for "wah I lost 7 hours of playtime! Smiley: cry"

People lost 24-36 hours playtime.
