Legacy Tattoo Disappeared!Follow

I'm terribly sorry to make a thread about this but it's absolutely killing me and I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out a solution.

My main character right now had a legacy tattoo from 1.0. It was there, I know I'm not imagining it as I was around in 1.0 and have gotten all my 1.0 items and whichever veteran rewards. The other day I equipped my "helm of light" and the tattoo disappeared. I went searching on the internet on what to do and how to make it come back. I've read and researched everything...

/lmark on /lmark off /lmark /legacymark on /legacymark off /legacymark

I've used them in succession, one after the other, twice or three times in a row. I've logged out and back in, restarted my PC and waited overnight. I tried changing gear, taking off all my gear, making sure headgear was not hidden then hiding it again. I've not changed my appearance yet or used any fantasia.

I sure hope my tattoo isn't gone for good. Some one said to contact a GM in game but what can a GM do about something like this? I tried and after over an hour of waiting finally logged out.

Thank you for any help or suggestions.

I'd submit a GM ticket for something like that.

If your character is supposed to be flagged to have the legacy tattoo and doesn't have that flag, a GM should be able to fix that.

Well I guess after logging out the GM team sent me a reply back. They said they feel it would be best for me to contact Square Enix support, monday through friday 9-6 or whatever their hours are... Seems like the GM's just sort of shrugged me off. Very frustrating, I just want my tattoo back on.

Last I recall they stated certain gear will completely remove it and if you use the dude who changes your hair, the aestecian or w/e to change hair style/color it should "reflag" you. That was one of the ghetto workarounds awhile back.

I tried wearing no gear at all, unless you mean certain gear removes it permanently? How much does the Aestecian charge? I would rather not use my fantasia unless I really have to.

Like 1 or 2k, you get a free use after you complete the quest.

2K in game. Good for changing hairstyles, hair color, and makeup. Fantasia is only needed for whole body do-overs.

I checked my other character which I also made back during 1.0. For some reason I had to watch the opening cut scene again, although I did create the characters at the same time. I think I just must have logged out during the first city quest before you're plopped onto the server. That character doesn't have the tattoo either, but both characters received many items in my mailbox, from baby behmoth to several fantasia, to the onion helm and helm of light.

I know I am not imagining the tattoo my character had, it was there, right below her neck on her back. Do I have to get a haircut on each of my characters to get my tattoo's back now? Jeez.

Just change something and then change it back. And no, it isn't permanent. My tattoo disappears and reappears all the time.

Well it seems with FFXIV I've noticed Square Enix turning back to some of their old habits. I guess when there's a ton of people subscribing they don't try as hard with things like customer service or listening to players. Who knows.

I contacted a GM in game about this issue as many have suggested. The GM sent me a reply saying it was an issue they felt I should take up with Square Enix chat support during business hours. Had to wait through the weekend and finally contacted chat support. After waiting 30 minutes on hold and being asked 4-5 questions about who I was they told me that they don't handle this sort of issue and to contact a GM in game. As I typed out "They told me to contact you, this is very frustrating, what am I supposed to do" and hit enter, they immediately sent a message back saying "Thank you for contacting us, we hope to see you online! Have a nice day" and ended the call. I felt it was really kind of rude. Shouldn't be this hard just to get a hold of some one who can help...

Unfortunately the number of subscribers really doesn't change how bad SE's customer service is. It's been bad for years. The only suggestion I can think of here is to keep trying, eventually you'll get someone who can help you. I know it's frustrating.

I recommend drinking.

About the only thing they've improved a little is billing. With the adoption of the time cards and the buy-ahead billing discount, I haven't had any problems getting them to take my money since 2.0 rolled around.

I guess they realized if they wanted to have a cash shop, it'd better be a functional one. Smiley: lol

So I re-replied in game to GM support, 8 hours later I get a message from the GM team saying "Please submit this as a bug report in the official loadstone forums." Maybe by some time next year I'll get my tattoo back.

So, an update...

Finally unlocked the aestecian in game, had him change my hairstyle and the legacy tattoo will still not appear.

I submitted a "bug report" on the lodestone forums and when I did it got moved to the "Insufficient data" (aka you're an idiot/dunce cap) forum because I did not copy and paste every single file, system setting, internet provider, my shoe size and my first grade teacher's name. The North American customer service team truly does not care if you have an issue outside of a stolen account or RMT or something it seems.

I guess I will just never get my legacy tattoo back.

Do the words "Senior GM" carry any weight in XIV? I recall some posters mentioning having luck in XI by asking to speak with a Senior GM if the GM they were dealing with was being unhelpful.

From what I understand GM's in FFXIV rarely if ever send /tells, they instead send a pre-formed message, 90% of which is something they copy and paste. Even if you could speak with a senior GM something tells me that person wouldn't care either. I've known people who have worked in these "game master" type customer service centers, some times they manage more than just one game but either way they always have an attitude like it's a joke. Your issue is just about a video game, they couldn't care less unless your account is being compromised or something. It's a really sad shame, but basically there's no one who really cares on issues like this. I've asked here, on the lodestone, contacted them through e-mail, live chat, in game, multiple times. The North America Square Enix customer service center obviously couldn't care less, they even moved my thread to their dunce forum.

I noticed another strange... Glitch? If it is one. I've been in the East Shroud near Verdant Drop for hours now. The sky has stayed foggy and dreary. Now, I'm not sure if it's supposed to always be like that but my little forecast radar says "sunny." When I back the camera up as far back as it will go suddenly the skies turn into clear, sunny happy looking skies. Furthermore I've noticed that the tattoo is missing from all my characters. I asked some random fellow once if he saw the tattoo on my back (after I typed /lmark on) and he said none was there, but that might not be accurate.

Hopefully I can figure this out...

This is going to sound patronising so do forgive me, but are you 100% sure the tattoo was there? Firstly I've never heard of this issue occurring before and I've played since launch, but more importantly, the other "legacy" items you have listed are not actually legacy at all. I didn't play 1.0, but based on the extras you have listed in this and your other threads, they are all items I have access to either through veteran rewards/preorder bonuses etc. In order to qualify for the legacy tattoo you had to actually subscribe to 1.0 for x amount of months (exact amount eludes me). Being an alpha/beta tester or someone who played during the free period of post launch doesn't qualify you for it, you actually had to pay the sub fee for a few consecutive months. If you tick all of the above boxes, I don't know what else to suggest to be honest.

I'm positive it was there. 100% positive. I honestly don't remember if I canceled my characters before they started requiring pay for subscriptions or not, I honestly don't know. I think the furthest back item I have is the onion helm. I know the tattoo was there and not just during the opening cut scene, but after I began leveling. I wasn't sure what it was and researched it to find out. A small black tattoo at the base of the neck, at the upper back. Looked like a strange little insignia. It's super frustrating because as you say, it seems no one else has had this exact problem and not been able to remedy it. But yes, it was in fact there, it looked exactly like this:

And I promise this.

When you log in, is there a red marker in the lower right hand corner that says Legacy? That's the definite sign. No red marker on the character screen, no tattoo, and only your characters imported from 1.0 have it. For my set, Taprara Rara has the tattoo, but the character I actually play, Katarh Mest, does not.

The other confirmed legacy perk is a $10/month account fee, and a special chocobo named Legacy Chocobo.

Note that you can have other items from 1.0 like Hermes Sandals, but not have Legacy status.

Yeah, this is getting extremely strange. No little red mark. I'm 100% positive that this character on this world had it for several days after I reactivated.

I looked at a few characters I had on Excalibur which was a legacy server and lo and behold, you can see in the character select screen the legacy tattoo on their back. I know all these characters were made at the same time. It even gives me a prompt before I sign in with them (the ones on Excalibur) saying "You are given one opportunity to change your character's appearance, race, class and job from 1.0 blah blah" confirming they were on 1.0. I didn't get that prompt with my character I'm playing on Gilgamesh, but again, they were all created at the same time.

I wish I understood what was going on or that a GM of some sort could explain it. I appreciate the help from folks here at least.
