My new job has been killing me. I didnt get anything done.

0 Soldiery this week.
0 Poetics this week.

I had a quick look around the Golden Saucer yesterday, got my deck of cards and went chocobo racing. And the place feels huge (even though it's not).

Chocobo Racing is great. I love it so far. Won a few races, but i'm worried for the future where they'll let people with trained chocobo's partake in the same races with people who did not.

Triple Triad i couldnt dislike more. Tetra Master had a lot of variables that made it exciting, as well as diagonal attacks. Triple Triad on the other hand comes down to "The guy with the better/stronger cards always wins". It was already like this in VIII where if you had a deck with A-cards you basicly could never lose :/ Zero strategy involved, really basic math for the Plus rule. It's stupid really. Unless you wanna use that to "exploit" (as it's being called already) some of the npc's with set cards that you can always win against if you know their card values, there's zero to do with it. Hate it beyond belief.

You know the Plus rule makes it so you can beat those guys loaded with superior cards, right? The power of addition makes it so.

Your concerns are the same as mine for both long term.. Those concern are for me playing them long term.. They are not about choco racing or triad being a flop because I dont think they will..

If I focus on crafting more why would I run a choco race where I cant win in the future. I do think choco races are fun though right now but I am worried long term there will just be certain people doing it who focus on it. The stuff is expensive.

Same as Triad, those with the good cards will almost always win. But collecting these cards does sound fun but if you can t win long term it could be a concern. Again you end up with a group of people that pretty much concentrate on Triad.

But aint it really that way with anything in a game. Those who concentrate on just crafting or what ever..
Those that spend more time get the rewards.. You cant have the best of the best if you dabble in everything. You need to specialize unless you have ungodly amounts of time.

See I thought GS was going to be mainly little fun casual things to do not more time sinks and that is what they are.

For me I was asking for different content and this is different.

I am starting to feel the pressure of having to much on my plate to do already.
I could have waited a little longer for the newest relic phase.
Honestly I am hoping the expansion takes a little time getting here because I have so much to do now.
I play less in the summer and in a few months Tesee leaves for a while to visit family and help out some family.

1 goal this week, but remains to be seen if it's possible or not :

1) Complete the new relic quest to upgrade either my Excal/Aegis combo or my Longinus.

This is the only thing I want to achieve outside of the normal cap currency/get WoD drop, and it is largely dependant on what the quest actually entails!

Due to the ease of the new relic quest, I'm now the proud owner of an Excalibur Zeta and Aegis Shield Zeta :D I have also started towards my Longinus Zeta, should have it by next week.

I've also capped poetics, got my WoD drop, done my weekly hunt, ranked up my triple triad deck, and started looking into chocobo racing. Great week all in all :D

I'm apparently an amazing chocobo jockey and/or I got a good bird to start, because I keep coming in first place at the chocobo races (even in a race where I'm against more player characters than NPCs.)

About to finish the maiden levels and hit the next tier, though, so I suspect my first place standings are going to plummet.

Seriously, out of all the gold saucer activities, chocobo racing has been the most fun so far, and unlike any other activitiy, it's impossible to lose money at the lower levels. Entry fee is only 10 MGP, you get in a race in about 1 minute because the AI adds in NPCs, and you have a guaranteed return of 30-70 points back depending on how well you do.

I finished my Nexus weapon late last week and I've been working on my Zodiac. I'm 7 dungeon drops away from having it. I've been tracking my drop rates if anyone wants to do math with them. I'll post the whole list when I'm done.

Apart from that I've discovered that, unlike Catwho, I'm a horrible chocobo jockey. My bird doesn't even bother anymore. He just kind of wanders off and looks at the scenery.

Decent card player though. Working on defeating those NPCs that I can with my rank 1 deck (Got Plus? I can beat you... don't got Plus? Run away). Up to about 20 cards right now.

Oh and the Mini Cactpot forked over 10k on day 1, and not more than 100 any day after that. Stupid lottery.

Yeah, I was taking the Gold Saucer tour and got to the triple triad area (now, I wasn't a big fan of this game before). Before I knew it, the tour guide was all "Hey Azuelas, you've been here 6 hours. Don't you want to..." "Shhh, must get Bahamut." I'm currently at 35 cards. I might not actually finish up the weekly stuff before the reset next week. I'm going to try to get to 40 cards tonight.

Update:

Goals:
1. T12 on Monday.
2. T10-T11 on Wednesday
3. Tower quest, cap poetics, but tank piece with that, get caster coat from WoD
4. Keep working on Bard zodiac
5. Wrap up Ixali quests

1&2. Static broke up. Eh, other than the blm coat, I got all I needed out of there anyway. Gonna take a break for a while.
3. Got the tower quest + twine (what I was playing t12 for lol) and upgraded the tank chest. He is now 120. Bought 120 tank boots as well. No WoD drop yet for the week.
4. Got Yoichi bow, finally. 16/110. 14.5% overall. Had a truly dismal 1/35 showing on Qarn HM, otherwise the rest was smooth sailing except for the ~20 dungeon dry run I had at the beginning. Glad I never ever ever have to do that again.
5. I did beat the Ixali quests. That was very nice to get over with.

And to top everything off in a quite successful week, Waenlona upranked twice in the Maelstrom last night: first one unlocked Expert Delivery, and my stash of green and pink items earned more than enough to get the second one. Still need another 8 levels on SCH for the next rank, so that will be a while probably. Pushed through some more storyline, and had possibly the worst trouble getting through story Qarn I've ever seen -- it's not a dungeon you can do by ignoring mechanics, yet the Terotaur led to half a dozen wipes. Kill bees fast, stand on the platform for Doom, how hard is that really?

Verdha hammered out those Alex maps and is 55/75 now, plus another Tower run to get a carbontwine to upgrade WHM legs this time. Chocobo challenge log done for the week already, and more spiritbonding lead to a IV to squirrel away for the Alex sequence, plus some more that sold well.
