So, Alexander is in full swing, and is just one of the many options that we have to fill our limited play time. With so much to do, the question becomes how to spend the time you have wisely. So, with that, what plans do you have for next week forward?

My goals:

1. Alexander this weekend. Managed to down each of the turns once, with no loot. Got the accessories piece for completing all four but that is it. Need to down these a few more times and get myself some loot if I even hope to touch savage when it comes about.

2. Need to try my hand at Ravana Ex. I really do.

3. Bard at 179, Paladin now at 175. I hope to have paladin at 179 by the end of the weekend. Then I'll keep gathering law and seals to buy for summoner. The road is long, that's for sure.

4. Bought a 6th retainer... Had to. Simply too much stuff to hold onto, and I don't want to miss any opportunities for profit. So the goal is to organize my stuff.

5. Arcanist at level 52. Love that I'm getting 2 for 1 here and leveling a really good dps and a healer at the same time. Been running daily hunts and low roulette on the summoner. Need to keep doing that.

6. Daily gc turnins. Things are 52-53 now with the exception of 57 botanist and 60 carpenter. Crafting and gathering are side thoughts for me at the moment, but I still spend 45 minutes each day to get all those items together because that daily experience is just too good to pass up.

My goals:

- Bard to 170 so I can actually try Alexander. I'm at 168 now. I refuse to do group hunts in their current state which is a handicap, but oh well.
- Finish up SCH/SMN to 59, if not 60. A level a day is a good pace. I figured out too late that the 100 law tomes from High roulette is way more valuable than the 100K exp on a sub 60 job, but I've unlocked The Vault so between that and daily hunts I'll easily be able to chunk out the needed levels. (SMN is so overpowered solo with a chocobo out. I was able to take on level 59 hunt mobs with my Titan/Battle Bo / Me trio at level 55.)
- Continue to rebuild my finances. Goldsmith is hella expensive, even with miner getting leveled up on the side. I was down to 200K last week. (Part of that was buying my best friend a Fat Cat for her birthday.) Already back up to two million. Ah, Lamia server.

I learned that one reason Lamia has such a vibrant and interesting economy + character locked half the time is because people will transfer over to the server, build up ten million gil, convert it to materials that will sell for a profit on other servers, and transfer back away. Why our economy is so robust.... I don't know. But we've got the healthiest crafting economy on the NA data center for reasons nobody understands.

At 50 I was soloing 59 hunts with Titan egi and my drg bo in my 129 gear =p. I do know the feeling

Whyssler has 8 retainers and spends his entire life in a room running 8 billion crafting macros with his toes while gathering on 2 alt accounts with a controller in his hands and another one hooked directly to his brainstem. And he sets the prices.

I got super lucky with Alexander... got loot from all four floors in like eight total runs. Smiley: smile

I'm actually kind of sad... I'm really excited for the reset so I can jump back in! The Alexander fights are fast and fun, and the music is outstanding. It's the kind of thing you can grind with a few FC mates without needing to have a static. It's exactly what this game has needed since ARR's launch.

But with no Alexander loot to chase (for now)..

1. Ravana Ex learning party -- I've watched vids, and now I need to start learning this fight first-hand. Hoping for a FC learning group sometime over the weekend.

2. Get my wife up to speed -- Yes, my wife is playing again! She started over (previous character was only level 20), and created a cat girl named something like "Emma Mauskilla." Smiley: lol Hopefully, this time, she sticks around longer.

No real goals, other than just leveling stuff.

Alexander sucks and I probably won't bother with it until it gets easier. Yet by the time it's easier, the stuff it drops will almost certainly be outdated, just like how it was with every iteration of Coil. Huzzah.

Fynlar, are you struggling with Alexander story mode?

If so, hit me up in game... I'll tank for you if I'm online. I've got each floor down.

Finally hit 60 last night. I've been taking it slow and enjoying the ride. Going to try and finish the story later. Beyond that, no set plans. I'll probably run some dungeons and start gearing up a bit. Maybe start leveling scholar or warrior.

Side note, am I crazy or are there no bracelets rewarded during the leveling process? I replaced every other slot at least twice but dinged 60 wearing the same bracelet I walked into Ishgard with 10 levels earlier.

Accessories, including bracelets, are almost exclusively awarded by side quests.

As for me this week... pretty tame. My static managed to finish Alexander Normal, though we're still working out some bumps. Now we're trying to get people clears on Bismark EX so we can do Ravana EX for weapons. Good times.

My AST is at about 47 now.. kinda stalled out while working on other stuff. I've also started taking some time out each day for gathering, which is something I did not do in 2.x that I realized later I should have. Right now my MIN is 56 and climbing. Having a little trouble figuring out exactly how to do collectables properly, but I'll get there.

Yeah, but I completely cleared out the side quests in every zone except the forelands and still never saw any bracelets.

My Goals is to get my bearings on Lin for 60 Play. Mainly gearing her up and upgrading to the 180 pieces throughout and then looking to approach Alexander. Prima Ex's are out of my reach for the meanwhile due to PF or Bust.

Otherwise, it's Eric's turn on the climb to 60, taking Summoner/Scholar up. One he's done for story climb it'll be leveling some Alts to 50 till 3.1, where Hyrist will enter back into the fray for PvP.

Alternate jobs on character wise: Debating Dark Knight for Lin's new 'Tank'. Though, as I think of it more, I think I'll be leaning more warrior for her at this point. It's already 50 and the longer handle just seems to fit her persona, which means the low-level job for her will be Astrologian so I will finally have a healer available on my main when needed. How I'm going to manage inventory for all of this, I don't know. Right now I'm figuring out on clearing one of my alts specially for RP/Glamour gear. And cutting them down to specific sets.

I predict lots, and lots of Library runs to get the gun I want for Glamour for Eric and Machinist - which will be his Physical Ranged class, and fits within his character persona.

Guess that means Dark Knight falls to Hyrist ,though he's already tied deeply into Paladin from a gameplay standpoint. It'll just mean that gear will be easier for him I suppose.

Of course all of these are long term goals. For this week it will likely be focusing on Lin and Eric in particular. Doing hunts for them both then doing Roulettes for Tomes and Exp for Eric, then when done with that work on Eric's story.

One thing to note, if you're not dancing with your tank stances on DRK, MP control isn't TOO bad but juggling your TP and MP can be a bit of a problem until SE fixes the Darkside glitch. (Action consume MP, so any regen or buff on you will drain your mp in a heartbeat.)

They've already confirmed that the drain bug is visual only so that's not as big of an issue as being decried. But that said, it'll likely be a while before I pick up DRK if it's getting shifted to Hyrist. So even if it were more than a visual bug, it would a moot point for me.

I just don't think it fits Lin thematically.

Got a bolt, crank, spring, and pedal, and a bolt for the completion. Getting loot from all four floors under this system is a RNG fueled improbability, but I got lucky when I simply stopped caring about getting a shaft. On the way, I mastered tanking and barding all four floors. Used 1 bolt on tank bracelet, the other on bard ring.

Ran with my mini static (which was at the time only 4 people) and 4 pickups. Did well, got to swords a bunch and made it to double prey a few times, but the groups seemed to fall apart at those steps. Many times, only a lonely bard named Valk was left alive.

With the alexander accessories, bard and paladin are now both 180. Summoner / Scholar is steady progress, sitting at level 54.

Feels like I have a bit more room at 6. That is good.

Weekend brought a lot of the crafting jobs up into the 53-54 range. Did 53 class quests for 80% of them to get the offhand. Got weaver to 55 and got the replacement mainhand. Breaking me to do it though. Getting too lazy I think. Down to 15 million from 17.

Gearing paladin. It has become my main considering my new static setup needs me there. Got him to 182. Last week got a spring,boltx2,pedal, and crank. This week so far I have floors 1,2, and 4 cleared with loot and got chain, bolt, and shaft. So: 1/4 towards both pants and chest, I have a belt and two accessories on paladin, 1 accessory on bard, 1/2 towards arms, 1/2 towards feet, and 0/2 towards head. Hoping that floor 3 brings me the crank and I can get some gloves this week. That is my weekend goal, to fight the jiggly man over and over until that happens. Sucks that df groups are 50/50 hit or miss.

Having a heck of a time finding success in this fight, 100% due to others not knowing what to do with prey. So, PSA. Prey in Ravana EX.

Two types. 1 - single prey. Single prey happens earlier, and immediately before the phase where everyone stacks at C and runs a clockwise circle kiting the tethered blue orbs. Someone gets prey on their head, and ravana turns around and casts his 270 degree supanaka (sp?) attack (looks like titan stomps) on whoever has prey. For this reason the guy with prey needs to go bring it to the main tank, then go stack at C with everyone else. Then the main tank turns ravana clockwise facing away from the group as they move so that the blue orbs are avoided and the 270% titan stomps only hit the main tank. Ezpz.

2 - Double prey. Kills all my groups. People have no idea. So here it is. Ideally you have the four corners marked A, B, C, and D (D is blank but metaphorically present). K. Double prey happens after swords. You guys know swords, the 1, 2, 3, 4, blades where you go to your corresponding area and move to mid as he charges, well this happens right after that and it can be complicated. What will happen is that ravana will tag two people with the prey icon. Watch next to your name for the debuff, because the over the head icons LIE. Don't know if this was intended. Anyway, two people get the prey. One runs to A, one runs to B. At this time, Ravana is long casting Final Liberation. You have a ton of time. So where does the rest of the party go? Go to C, D, or in-between C and D. Now the big purple circles should pop up (still ravana is long casting final liberation). These circles should be placed so one is at D, one at C, and one in the middle of C and D. Staggered. So everyone with circles gets hit once and that's it. Now there are three people that are not going to have prey or a circle. What do they do? About this time Ravana finishes up his final liberation cast and shoots an attack out to the prey targets (who should be at A and B) and remembers where he hit them. They get a strong debuff as well. Two of the three people who don't have prey or circles should be moving over to A and B respectively so that they are able to stand at A and B on top of the prey target, and take the prey after the first hit. Then the ones who got hit (and originally had prey) will then move towards each other in-between A and B on the edge of the map, while the two new guys who have prey are at A and B. This causes Ravana to charge and hit the ones at A and B without touching the original prey targets or the people with circles. Then everyone stacks in the middle for the next attack and gets ready to spread out for the Garuda wind.

Many groups want to pass the prey to the paladin and have him hallowed for the first hit, then move slightly so the next hit doesn't hit the party, and so forth, which imo is less taxing on healers, but is complicated mechanics/wise, introduces more variables, and is probably all and good if you have a smart group, but as I have discovered, is not ok for the masses.

Anyway. I am 100% confident that if I jumped into a farm group I would be on my feet at the end. Now to find a farm group (then find out if they will take me on).

Got a bunch of 180 and 170 for summoner now. Picked up the sweet looking lvl 55 dungeon robes last night. Summoner still at lvl 55, but getting there. Bard at 180, Paladin at 182.

Still doing these. Everything is above 53 now. Weaver and leatherworker at 55. Botanist 58, miner 53. Getting there. But the pockets hurt really bad. Down about 3 million. Hoping the materia IV costs pick up a bit more. Have a feeling that they will spike on the next relic quest. So till then, I'll hold onto my stacks and stacks of materia until they spike, and make a killing, hopefully.

Bismark EX cleared.

Ravana EX cleared.

AST is at 48, MCH at 40. MIN is at 58 and climbing one rock at a time (leves? why would I do those?).

Btw, am I missing something or is it pretty much impossible to get blue gatherer scrip at the level it opens (56) without melding gear? I thought scrip was supposed to make it so you didn't have to do that. I'm probably wrong but I can't seem to figure out a way to get enough collectability on things without having way more GP than I have.

Still waiting on a FC learning party for Ravana Ex. I'm 100 percent confident that I'll get a clear with my FC, and also really have a chance to learn the fight in the process. I'm not at all confident in that happening with random PF groups.

Went 1/1 on my Alex F3 drop last night. Tried F4, but the party I was in just couldn't hang on the last phase.
