hello guys! I'm going to start the trial of FFXIV today but i want to be in a friendly active helping guild with a good server (not that big populated but mid-big). also im very active and will like to do end game content. currently i don't know anything about the game but i will look for it since im a big fan. also i have been playing wow and blade and soul (this one is cool but its turning p2w and i dislike that). also im currently trying to decide what class to chose with what race. i was thinking SMN or BRD but i think brd is wayyy used by players ? most use class atm? and i heard smn is not good for end game content? . is this game easy to lvl if new? is there too much crafting dependant for gil? i loveeeee grinding and doing dungeons for pve and gear i dont really mind that. is it easy to get ilvl up to 200 fast? and last question. is this game day dependant? what i mean by this is like blade and soul. if you miss a day of daily you will miss a lot of gold for content and wont progress so in order to progress u need to get in daily and do everything. (sooo time consuming) idk if ffxiv is casual or hardcore? any suggestions would be cool and i would want to join a server and a guild thats active and have a helping hand like me :) i love to help but i also love to progress on gear and content. sorry for all the questions and thanks for helping me out and reading this

i wouldnt want to play a game that might be dying. i love ff and would love to play this game to the end but if its dying i dont want to put the effort and 15 a month

FFXIV is still totally healthy, and although nothing has been announced, another expansion can be expected probably within the next year (maybe even later this year). So now is still a great time to get in.

Read through your whole post, and this seemed to be the only concern in real need of answering (everything else, yes, FFXIV would be a great fit for you). To answer your question, it depends on how many jobs you want to level. Unlike many other MMOs, in FFXIV you can play as all the jobs on one character. If you only want to focus on one or two jobs, then no, you don't need to log in every day. There is definitely repetitive gameplay, as there is with all MMOs, but FFXIV is pretty forgiving about not letting people fall behind.

The other side of that coin though is this game has a relatively fast-paced vertical progression system. You're likely to get irritated if you're the kind of gamer who wants to get all the best stuff and then be the best forever. In FFXIV, expect iLevels and gear demands to increase once every six or seven months. But for most things in the game, your high-end older gear is sufficient to be successful... so even though hardcore players like using the term "obsoleted," it takes longer than 6 months for your gear to truly be worthless.

I'm on Hyperion, and it's one of several "mid-big" servers. Just stay away from Balmung if you don't want something that's overcroweded.

Also, one more thing... you'll need to play through the whole storyline in order to participate in endgame and access the entire map. But it's a good story, and you'll have absolutely no problem hitting the level cap with all the stories and quests available.

Thank you for replying to my comment and taking your time to read. Well right now I'm playing beta and leveling a thaum first until I hit 15(I think its 15 or 30) to unlock arcanist and after that unlock summoner (I think this is the correct path for summoner sub job?) and yes I was thinking hyperion, leaviathan o behemoth server. you said something about ilvl (sounds like a wow system) and I think that is pretty cool because its not like blade and soul where you need to farm daily to not fall behind. one day can ruin everything. Also are you guys recruiting? like if I move to hyperion I can join? I'm active atm and will do everything to keep up my pace and get to raid in a near future. i see a lot of people talking about relic. is relic the only purple item in game? because when i see photos everyone haves green and blues.

sorry for my miss-information and most of all. sorry for my language

We're a pretty open FC, and we're always taking in new members -- and there have been many lately. So yeah, if you feel like rolling on Hyperion, look for me in game! Name is Thayos Redblade.

You are going to need both copies. The Default FFXIV and the Heavensward expansion, to play the entirety of the game. That said, most of Heavensward's content won't be available to you until you're level 50 and pushing forward, so you can stagger the cost if you so choose. That said, you can typically find them bundled together for cheaper overall, so you have choices there.

Hyrist brings up a good point. If you're on the fence at all, then you can get the original ARR for cheap without Heavensward. But if you're pretty sold on what you've played so far, then spring for the whole thing. The Heavensward storyline is pretty good and worth the playthrough by itself.
