Class disision help.......Follow

Hello, I had some questions for people that have some knowlage on the subject or have been playing the beta. I in the past in EQ was a MAGE. I got to Lvl 52 and enjoyed the pets and then FFXI came out and i switched because i had always enjoyed the storyline of the Final Fantasy titles and the gameplay. I play as a Lvl 62 RDM and if you dont know a RDM can Heal/Debuff/Buff/Nuke. I now would like to try out EQ2 and i had a question. A Conjurer would be most like the Mage class i used to play, but i was also thinking of Cleric because i liked healing and buffing in FFXI.....So i was wondering in partys are Conjurers wanted or am i far better of as a Cleric(templar) with getting and invite....Thanks for your opinion and if you have any other ideas that i may like please pass them on......

A shaman might not be a bad class to look into for you either. All classes are wanted for parties, in my beta experience, SoE did a wonderful job of making the classes much more equal.

From my experiance in Beta all classes can solo well. Also seems the best group consisted of 2 healers to help split the aggro they got from casting there heal spells. Seems that I was always hearing groups spaming for healers. I played a druid and would get invites about every other minute since any priest class could play the role of healer. Only disadvantage was that the healers in the group would get outragous aggro everytime they would cast a heal spell. SoE was suppose to twink this down some but haven't played retail version yet to see if this has been done.

I played a cleric up to lvl 16 before beta ended. I never had trouble finding a group in Antonica. I also played on the evil side and found that healers are even harder to find in freeport area.
I was thinking of playing an evil healer type maybe an Ogre. Just to be different. =)

One thing I can say about healers in eq2 compared to eq1. In eq2 you get to do alot more than just stand heal sit stand heal sit. You can actually get in there and give the mob a couple wacks with a big stick. You can also nuke a couple of times in most battles. You get reactive heals that are like a reverse damage shield. In other words you cast a spell on your tank and when something hits him he is healed. This spell is great for keeping tanks alive and I used it more than my direct heals. It is sort of a heal over time thing.

I have not played a shaman but I understand they get some powerfull wards. These compare to the Rune spells in eq1. They absorb a set amount of damage to protect your tank.

I don't know much about druids. I know they get more in the line or regen spells. And they get to turn themselves into animal. =P

I played an enchanter up to level 12 and all mages are the same to lvl 10. Mages rock for solo. You can root and you have a small damage over time to help you take them down a little before they break root. I'm not sure how they do at hight levels but I think the enchanter was not used enough at lower levels. I got into groups and realy turn the tide with a mez spell that you get at lvl 11.

I played a Scout up to level 13. I like the scout type for one reason. Damage output. My main in eq1 was a rogue and I think that the rogue class in eq2 is going to be the same. DPS. I don't think you are going to solo much with a scout type.

I played a Crusader to level 14. I love the fighting graphix. I did notice that I needed to taunt often and hard to hold agro. I deleted him to make a new tune before they improved fighters taunt so I think they fixed that.
