I create a macro to assist my current target.

/assist

however it only selects whatever target they have selected and doesn't start auto attacking. Is there something I'm missing?

you don't autoattack after using assist in EQ2.

Of note (useful for healers) if you target the main assist, and use auto attack, you'll automatically attack that guy's target. ditto to offensive spells, but you'll still be targetting that character for beneficial spells etc. (aka 'Implied Targetting')

Well then how do I go about making more then one command per macro. so i could have something basic such as...

/assist
/attack

this would be helpful to make sure all dps classes are assisting the main tank.

Not to point fingers, but having auto attack on for assist is bad. It can lead to big wipes.

You can't have more then one command per macro.

Push your macro to target the mob and hit the "~" key.

just taget who ever u want to assist and all attacks made will go to whoever they are targeting .. this is great for assisting the main tank healers can heal at will and throw in a nuke or others spells on mobs also without having to switch targets
